I cannot believe what I just witnessed tonight and I never go into a show thinking this might happen. But at this point, I believe that in 32 years and 44 shows, tonight was the greatest Rolling Stones concert that I have ever seen. Maybe I will change my mind later, but this is what I think and feel at this point.

a few remarks only at this point --

as good as tuesday's show was, triply better.

great set list

highlights: All Down the Line, Satisfaction, Jumpin Jack Flash, and Midnight Rambler. But almost everything really. And oh, Midnight Rambler. Keith seemed to be riffing so hard and the band has slightly changed and extended the number of late. I cannot adequately describe things so I am not conveying things properly.

They were VERY into it, especially Mick and Keith with a lot of smiles and a LOT of movement from Mick. And everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

At the end, during Brown Sugar, Mick went over and brought Lisa and Bernard out to sing with him center stage. The intensity level rose even more. Suddenly, Keith and Ronnie are physically in the middle of this mix of Mick/Bernard/Lisa.... everyone is intermixed all together and playing their ass off and having THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES!!!

So, the end of my remarks and I know I have not really made a good "case" but I just cannot properly and adequately describe what I just saw. And I am tired and it is 1:22 am.

I am also leaving things out that I will likely think of later. I may supplement this with more impressions later.

Well i only started seeing them in 78 but according to my brother who was with me at Fresno said it was the best he's seen and he goes back to 71 or 72 LA forum show's.

I know exactly how you feel, Tim. Exactly. It's not just the hour but it's hard to put words together and express what you're feeling when you feel like you've been hit with a sledgehammer. That was quite simply the most incredible show I've ever seen. I haven't been to 44 Stones gigs but I can easily believe it was your best. They are all so obviously up for it - they cannot stop when in this form. We'll have to pass a law on it.

Not real Jealous after seeing them 1972, 1975, 1978, 1981, 1989, 1995 so on....

Tonight may well be my best ever show too. Time may change my views on this because my ears are still ringing (it was LOUD).

All I can say is that I am completely stunned by how good they were tonight. It was spoiled only by one Nazi steward but I told her what I thought of her. After that I kept holdng my ear and shouting that I couldn't hear her - good trick by the way. She eventually gave up.

well that's borderline ridiculous. and, yeah, i was at the Fresno show. it was so-so at best for THIS era. Compared to their heyday in the 70's? c'mon...let's be serious.....

Tonight, that is the second London gig, was absolutely a thrill. So much going on,so many good intros, so much RONNIE, so much ....... Da Stones. One of the better ones I'v seen.

I mean there are rumors that the may call it a day after the Sunday gig... but why? When they still put on shows like the one tonight 23rd, why should they stop. No reason what so ever to do that. See ya in Da States next summer when the "Shine A Light" Tour gets into full swing...... I will be at MSG with the rest of them Vikings.... with the Nordic StonesVikings tee on me, even though I almost got thrown out of the O2 arena tonight as an official Tour Merchandise guy got into a heavy argumet whit me on steeling copyright material when I had an NSV tee on....

I can't believe you almost got chucked out for wearing a t-shirt. Especially by a merch guy! Maybe a lawyer would have a field day but surely these guys are just plebs selling t-shirts! Still, this guy can't have been as bad as the black girl with short grey hair on Keith's side who acted as though she was Himler all night. Some of these people go power crazy and forget that people are there to have a good time!

Still, it didn't spoil my night. Unlike the guy who got physically ejected when he went up to the B stage.

Well Stonestod jelously will always prevail somewhere i never get into numbers but with a guy like you that thinks he knows it all here it goes. I've seen 40 Stones Gigs this time around on every continent and just over 200 in my time seeing them so if you think that is ridicoulous go back and read the Fresno Bee from that night maybe you will realise what you saw not including some other people i know that were there with more years under there belt then YOU? thats right YOU MISTER BIG! Even Jagger quoted after Fresno that show was over the top!

Just reading you post again Tim, I felt like that after Lyon,because Lyon was way up there for me too and the way i got to interact with the band all night. It's almost a spirtual thing,at the end and no stonestod i was'nt on any pshchodelics this time around.

StonesFreak has spoken, everyone! Y'all got that????

settle down little man. i'm not sure what a jagger quote has to do with the price of eggs. and, oh, by the by, Ronnie might as well have stayed in the dressing room the night of the Fresno show - he hardly played a lick. he has come back to life beginning in '06, for sure (though still a shell of his former self), but in '05 he was MIA....saw that up and close and personal several times.

I think Woody's played well since 05 he had a few bum gigs in Europe in 06 but when your on the road for 2 years i think everyone is going to have some bum gig's, By the way it was a Keef night all the way it just depends what the set is to who performs more of the guitar work every song is not weaving mister big,and by the way Beast of Burden and YCAGWYW,that night performed by Woody were killer jam's and the tone was second to none. I'll take a Keef night any time i see the Stones my best show's are when Keith is taking the band by the balls period.

It' great to hear everyone is enjoying these shows immensely!

I've been TEMPTED to hop on a plane from Hawaii and make the 30 hour-ish trek to London for Sunday's show, sold out or not.

Work,family and the right side of my brain are keeping me here and enjoying all the reports from afar.

I do hope they play Hawaii next spring!

well folks, a few comments in response.

first, i said it was my single best show, nothing else. it may or may not compare to your personal best in whatever venue on whatever tour. i am not comparing eras here. I will leave that to the folks who also like to compare set lists.

second, i have heard from A NUMBER of people who were there that Fresno was a fantastic show -- it may not have been for you, but it was for them.

BTW, StonesTod, Stonesfrk is NOT a little man in the least, but a big guy, so if I were you, i dont think i would want to catch him on a bad day.

BTW, the pre party at the Pilot was great, with Gazzza arriving at 230 and sort of playing host to everyone. Finally met lots of folks for the first time -- Little Queenie (who is also a nice looking gal), Beast/Sara, Paulwaul, many more. Great fun.

Every time I see them i think it was the best show ever, the truth is i think they are that good every time I see them,I can't really say whether or not they are better that they where when i first saw them in the early 70's i just think that the build up and excitement of going to a Stones concert colours your judgment when seeing them. If you think the last concert you saw was the best well Great, All thee concerts I have seen are the best ever.
