Stones box set of unreleased and rare songs

Is the once mooted box set of rarities ever going to come out? They could easily fill 10 CDs with just the best stuff and even include live gigs. Why isn't Allen Klein or his son who now apparently controls the ABCKO business bringing stuff out. Releasing the Rock'n'Roll Circus CD and DVD was excellent but he is sitting on so much other unreleased stuff recorded until 1970. I thought this guy was into making money. Why isn't he releasing it? He doesn't need the Stones permission. Very strange.

The band could put out all the leftovers from great sessions such as Some Girls and Tattoo You.

And why isn't Ladies and Gentleman coming out. It's a great gig so the band surely can't have problems with their performance.

I think that when The Stones stop being an ongoing concern, the vaults will be seriously opened up. @#$%& Blues (which I was lucky enough to see at the Tate Modern a couple of years ago), and Ladies & Gentlemen will get a proper DVD release, and that box set might happen.

didnt realise the stones had so much unreleased stuff hidden away.

would be great if the stones could still do albums, release a few more live albums and then open the vaults for anything they still have hidden including rare performances and live footage from the past.

a lot of concert footage comes out in you-tube anyway, wouldnt it be in the stones best interest to release it themeselves and make the money for themeselves.

Imagine releasing Criss Cross Man, Highway Child, Yellow Cab, We Had It All, Lets Go Steady, Cops & Robbers, Claudine, Still A Fool, Hillside Blues, Travelin MAn, Blood Red Wine, Gangsters Moll, Hamburger To go, Zip Mouth Angel, Good Time Women, Drift Away, etc etc etc. Come to think of it that should be their next album. Finish, polish them release. Another Tattoo You type thing. MEZ

That would be a great idea.

i think That the Stones still have some say about what Allen Klein can release.plus who knows if there are many tapes there are or if they're in good condition. abkco basically had to search the globe to find some of the tapes they used for the 2002 remasters plus with all the bootlegs out there one has to wonder how many reels were stolen or given away.plus if you listen to ruby tuesday on any of the 2002 remasters you'll notice it's actually an alternate take. the original reel may have been ruined with age.

your guess is not quite right that he does not need the Stones permission. Metamorphosis was the result of a settlement between Stones and Klein when they had numerous lawsuits pending in the 70s. Rock and Roll Circus was also part of the deal but why it came out so late I never understood. Klein needs the Stones agreement for putting out UNRELEASED stuff. Klein "owns" the rights to their 60s material, but unreleased stuff is unreleased because the Stones never okayed its release, and their original decisions are legally active until now. so Klein owns the unreleased 60s material, but cannot get it out without Stones agreement. the Stones dont own the rights, but can veto releases. so Klein needs the Stones, and the Stones need Klein concerning this.

many are unfinished, even with unfinished lyrics. Stones could work on these tapes but obviously have no intention to do it until now.

You would have thought the BBC might release all that early stuff off saturday club ect,
plus the live shows they broadcast, after all the origin of one of the most famous boots ''Get your Leeds Lungs out ''was a BBC broadcast ,
they must have the rest of the gig ,plus many more, Wembley 1990 springs to mind,
and then they have all the TV stuff like Whistle Test and Top of the Pops.
Come on BBC where's The Rolling Stones at the Beeb 3cd plus 2dvd set.
