ot: favorite alice cooper album?

what is your favorite alice cooper album and why?
btw this is alice the solo artist not alice cooper the band so anything released from 1975-today.

my favorite is "the last temptation". it was dark, lyrically brillant, it captures almost every style of music alice had every dabbled in. garage rock"lost in america", a great ballad "it's me", a few heavy rockers "unholy war", "bad place alone", "cleansed by fire", a somewhat western styled mid tempo number "stolen prayer". the creepy nightmare song "lullabye". it was just an all around great album that unfortunately got pretty overlooked in america but did really well in england

Welcome to my Nightmare.

But I also enjoy the comeback Alice; The Last Temptation, Trash, Hey Stoopid, Brutal Planet and Dragontown. Fun albums.

Well, it's very hard to pick just one. I like them all and used to be a great fan of Alice's in my teens (well still am, but I listen to him very seldom nowadays, maybe that should change). By the way, I have always thought that there is something about She was hot that reminds me of some Alice song(s). Needless to say, what I mean is of course that Alice has been influenced by it, not the other way around. Anyone know what I mean? What do you think?

not to sound mean but right at the top of the thread a let everyone know if it was released before 1975 it was the band. B$B was released in 1973.

Possibly Dada - Never get bored with that one. Cooper is the most underrated guy out there. From 71-83 he released a series of masterpieces, and while its been hit or miss since then, his last album (Dirty Diamonds) is a real return to form.

I like the lastest 2 albums, "eyes" being the best. For me it's a combination of old and new Alice Cooper. Also I like his recent band. It's my favorite after the original. For me there was a black hole after "flush the fashion" until"the eyes of Alice Cooper". I'm happy to be an Alice fan once again after so many years. After The Stones, he's my favorite to see in concert.

Hi Frankotero, nice to meet a Cooper fan here. I'm surprised you found Flush the Fashion to be the cut off point. I love Special forces (Vicious rumours), Zipper catches skin (zorros ascent) and Dada (Pass the gun around). I found the new sober Coop, post 86 to be a great live act (again) but rather lumpen on record (Constrictor). Agree that The eyes is a great album (Detriot City)

Hey Letitloose. It's possible I missed something in those lost years. I stopped listening after "flush" because I was deep into Hendrix and other 60's music at the time. Then later, what I did hear sounded like present day (kiddie) metal, which I don't like. However, I'm crazy for bands like Zep and Purple. From what I hear the new album is due out pretty soon. I hope it's a rocker! Also, I have to say I miss Ryan Roxie and Damon Johnson. Only saw one gig with Kerry Kelly, seemed OK. Hope the new guy is also good.

Apparently the new album is called "Along came a spider", which sounds cool. My tix arrived yesterday for his gig in Glasgow on November 7th. Motorhead are supporting (plus Joan Jett and the Blackhearts). God help me!

Alice Cooper used to be a band with Alice Cooper as singer.
In 1975 that leadsinger decided to go solo... as Alice Cooper.

So there's Alice Cooper, the band. And (I think) Welcome To My Nightmare was the first album from Alice Cooper, the solo artist.

Sorry, but Trash is the worst record Cooper ever made

Always like Lace and Whiskey for its eclectic mix of songs. It's Hot Tonight and Lace and Whiskey are fairly hard rocking songs. You and Me continued his hit ballad writing which started with Only Women Bleed on the Nightmare album and continued with I'll Never Cry on Goes to Hell. Ubangi Stomp is a great rockabilly song. The album also featured Ernie Watts on sax and clarinet.
The live Alice Cooper Show album came out the following year and that's not too bad. Good mix of solo and band material.
I bought all his albums throughout the 80's but I think I probably listened to Zipper and Dada once.

Anyone here bought the Rhino Records Billion Dollar Babies deluxe edition with the live second CD recorded during the 73 BDB tour?

Love it to Death
Killer
Billion Dollar Babies

always liked their/his stuff up to Welcome To My Nightmare but after that i though it descended into turgid metal by numbers. Had the misfortune to see him at the Hammersmith Odeon for the Special Forces Tour - total letdown in my opinion

From The Inside was pretty good too. Songs about his rehab.

Just saw him in concert Friday at Dodge County fair in Wisconsin. Hadn't seen him since Billion dollar babies tour (my second live concert experience). Great set with lots of older hits. He's also going to be in Milwaukee Tuesday.

Killer is by far the angriest, most rock'n'roll album they ever did. For starters it's got Under My Wheel and You Drive Me Nervous - two out and out rockers. But the tour de force and probably Cooper's magnum opus is the magnificent, Who-like Halo Of Flies. If you've never heard it go get it immediately. You can almost hear young punks such as Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious licking their lips and planning their assault on rock'n'roll as they listened to this.
It's got real scary tunes on it too such as Dead Babies and Desperado. The band never made a better album.

2nd Choice (If this would count) would be the Box Set.

Please note that Elmo recently had "Be MY Lover" as his great song of the day. Yeah, I know it's pre-75, but still a good one.

BTW, I have a good friend named Michael Bruce (not from the Cooper band though).

"No Anchovies, Please"

btw since most people named stuff by the alice cooper group and not solo i'll just say "killer" is the best thing alice cooper released as a band or solo
