who owns the rights to stones material after they die.

dont want to sound morbid, just realistic.

when the stones eventually leave us, who will own the rights to all cd,s/dvd,s and all other material.

just wondering if there is a chance of concert releases or previously unreleased studio outtakes ever coming into the public ear.

Let's hope that Michael Jackson does not get creative again.

As far as I know, the rights to their estate revert to their families for fifty years and then enter the public domain. Several artists have tried to have this fifty years extended, including Elvis.

Of course the record companies will still continue to benefit from product sold but they are still bound by the fifty years. After that it's all public domain!

good question bobby; anybody know how that works? do the companies get the rights in perpetuity for super long copyright periods, or forever...
i know the publishing and songwriting royalties and performance royalties from radio, video, films, commercials etc...would go to the family estates tho.

i don't how long any private entities, like companies, aka virgin, atlantic, klein's stuff etc...would stay with the current copyright holders...
the boyz dont' own their own publishing on eveything obviously, thus klein etc...
but as for artist royalties on all of this, and writer part of publishing royalties, i think that's safely being ever more deposited into the glims accounts every second of the day into perpetuity...again, just a lay person guess.

... i've posted this link before - sorry for repeating myself,
but it provides a pretty good insight into the intricacies of music rights.
the thing is you really have to read the full article to get the picture:

[entertainment.howstuffworks.com]

meanwhile, back to the original question:
the rights that the Stones own will go to whoever they've designated as their heirs;
the rights that the Stones don't own will go to whoever the owners have designated as their heirs.
i doubt many of us know who that is, and doubt that the people who do know would post it on the internet.
