I have experience with this stuff myself and lots of musicians I know too, and so I know ,
even for an ex-user it´s not easy to get started if you have a time schedule like the Stones still have when they are on tour.

Someone´s got a clue about this, maybe someone who met Keith during the last 5 years?

I think so but not like in the 80s and 70s.

I think-he has benn a hardcore junkie for so long,that he and everybody(almost) in the same situation needs "Someting" what i dont know. Iam talking from my own experiens.I dont think its alkohol,not that much anyway,dont think he cant stand it. Cocaine? I think it pills. It use to ended with that. But still,only Keit knows.

There's an interview with Keith in this month's Mojo magazine in the UK. He claims he hasn't done coke since the accident.

in Mojo- he claims he can no longer do Coke, due to the medication he's on for his head.
He says, he now enjoys just the weed

That does make sense too. IMHO Keith's recent "dropouts" aren't due to alcohol or drug abuse, but simply due to medication for his head.
That accident really cut him back health-wise more than the 30+ years of drug abuse preceding it...

Marc Ford (ex-Black Crowes guitarist) stated in an interview (recent issue of a guitar magazine) that when the Black Crowes opened for the Stones in 1995 (Voodoo Lounge Europe), Keith and Ronnie were sitting backstage with "huge piles" of cocaine and were partying "'til eight in the morning"....

That makes a lot of sense. They should probably have cancelled the remainder of the tour in 2006 and given him proper time to rest up. I've heard about a few of these "open-skull-surgery" and they are not for kids alone at home!

There is a very high risk that it has maybe affected his balance nerve causing him to stumble about a bit.

And to add to the problems - maybe Keef hasn't learned quite yet how to handle this new situation - how much drink, dope and weed he can take, so he sometimes "overmedicates" himself.

But it's all guesswork and he'll probably outlive us all ;-)

What about B2B and Licks? Voodoo Lounge must´ve been hard, I´d like to think you can see it in the footage, too. But B2B was definetely a "drug tour" IMHO...

You never know. There's a lot of speculation in that field, but Keith said in an interview, that he had taken heroin in Oklahoma City 1997 on the B2B tour. He said he did it "to test himself once in a while to see how his body reacts"....

See, that's why I always put the quotes in quotation marks. I'm not telling you what I believe or don't believe, I'm just quoting what Keith said in an interview. Keith's reputation builds a lot on what people believe or tend to believe.
That's why I'm quoting, not believing....

He was also on heroin on BtB. Maybe he does H again. I think it's a little blow but mostly pills, maybe downers. He can do H and get away with it. Point is he doesnt seem very well this year. Probably the injury?

But this is the problem at all:

I guess, the funniest and most interesting stories about KEEF can only be told by people who were very close and who are serious (unlike Tony Sanchez!)
The best moments in the Stones - Keith can´t remember!! You bet!

thats a tough call..when i saw those pictures of ron and keith in their hotel balcony in japan it sure looked like they still party.... and if they are drinking alcohol and smoking cigs and joints its not much of a step to a line of coke....one you are in party mode- and i can say this from experience- it requires a lot of self control to stop yourself....i know i start out thinking i will absolutely not have a cigarette and after a few beers but that goes out the window..... definetly in those japan pictures there was a twinkle in their eyes...
