Meeting place in London, 10 minutes walking from the venue:

PILOTS INN (pub)
Address: 68 River Way, Greenwich, London, SE10 0BE
Tel: 020 8858 5910
Tube: North Greenwich (0.4 miles) (same station as O2 arena) [www.beerintheevening.com]

Should be a nice place to meet up at any time on show days.

Cool, glad we got the 'official' meet-up place sorted for London.

I know it's a few weeks away, but what time are people thinking of getting to the pub? 3pm, 4pm, 5pm?

9am...?!

well..I dont arrive on the 21st until around lunchtime anyway, so I cant get there THAT early but certainly as soon as I can afterwards. Not sure what time we'll have to depart on THAT first evening either.

As long as they have a pint of bitter I will be fine. Plus may be fish and ships.

PS. What does the ticket say about show time start hours? May be 18:30 or so? That is when the warm-up is on. Don't know if the curfew is 10:30 or 11pm at the O2...

It just says "Doors 18.00". No mention of a start time.

Even with a 22.30 curfew (and it surely wouldnt be any earlier than that), the Stones wouldnt be on until 20.30 or so.

I was briefly at the Pilot Inn on Saturday night and I think it would be just fine for a pre-show meet. Not too big inside, or in the nice garden at the back, it does have the advantage of a large open green space across the quiet road from the pub, so can cope with large numbers, so hopefully it stays dry.

It's a 10 minute stroll from the O2. when leaving North Greenwich tube station head for East Parkside, with the David Beckham Academy (who he?) on your left and keep walking away from the O2, you'll not miss it.

I was there at around 7pm, it looked as if it had been very busy earlier on, the pub had long tables set up outside on this green space for people buying from their bbq (burgers, chicken, jacket potatoes and the like for around £4) but presumably had sold out by the time I was there, because the bbq there, and in the garden at the back of the pub, were not in operation at the time. A rare bright sunny Saturday afternoon this summer I guess being responsible.

Food inside the attractive pub looked good and filling, but were mainly more fancy, cooked to order dishes served up with main courses generally around the £9 to £12 mark. Served between midday and 2.30pm and from 6pm till 9pm in the evening. On Sunday they serve tradional roast dinners betwen midday and 6pm,but say they're very popular and suggest book in advance.

bv and others will be pleased to know he can get his fish and ships here washed down with a choice of Fullers real ales, including London Pride.

Yeah, careful with them fish and ships - you can easily choke on the wooden ones, nevermind the steel ones. lol

Thanks for the scouting report, Paul. Looks to be fine.

Maybe someone should tell them we're comin' on those 3 dates and they should maybe have some extra staff on to cope with the unflux which wouldnt be normally expected (especially on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon)

The O2 doesn't have a curfew as such, concerts generally finish by 11pm latest to take account of the present limited late night public transport options.

The concert on Saturday had a support at 7.30 till about 8.20 and the headliners from just after 9 to around 10.40.

I'd expect the Stones to be onstage 8.45ish, probably a bit earlier on the Sunday.

Re: London pre-show meet up - any ideas?

The only concert I have attended there finished at 11.00pm, I would imagine the same will apply for The Stones.

So the Stones will be on at 9pm I assume. And the warm-up at 7pm, or 7.20 at the latest. Strange the doors does not open until 6pm, but I assume it is easy to fill, with a lot of entrances. Thanks for the reports from the Pilot Inn. Sounds like a great place!

was there on friday night.
the 'doors' to the main o2 Arena, may not open till 6pm, (7pm - Indigo2)but the bars and restaurants in the complex were packed to capacity (with queues in the region of 50-100 plus) outside, waiting for tables...Pizza Express, Pie and Mash shop etc, etc.... horrendous queues, lots of people wasting alot of time trying, in vain, to get a table and something to eat in the complex, prior to showtime.
Eat/drink and socialise, pre-show at the Pilot Inn...it was very, very packed and stressful within the o2 complex....too many people in too small a complex.
o2 arena...indigo2 venue (wonderful room by the way)....multi-screen cinema complex.....Tutankamen exhibition.

Did you check out the 'beach' Adrian-L?!

It happens every time at every venue. Some times I end up being late and plan to eat something near the venue. And every time I end up with chips or an ice cream best case because queues are endless and service is non-existing as you get within 5 minutes walk to the venue. That is why it is hard to find a meeting place. Not too close, still not to far...

i sat in a deck-chair on it, as techno music, pumped out around me.
for one or two secs, i thought i was in Ibiza

..it was the quietest place in the complex
crazy queues everywhere.
and the toilets on the main concourse are a bad joke....
