Well...it's not the best sound quality...BUT I really don't hear any fantastic guitar playing there...sorry to say that.

I wasn't bashing mate. I love the band as much as you do. But still think this recording shows the band on not one of their best days. Maybe it's the recording, but I don't hear any guitars on fire in the recording, I'm sad to say. But off course they will be great, when I'm going to see them in August :-)

It is what it is.

I would not attend a Stones show these days expecting to hear great guitar playing.

A lot of nostalgia and the opportunity to hum or sing a long to songs that many of us grew up listening to.

Also just the excitement and/or enjoyment of going to a live show featuring the Stones.

My point is simply, that it must be possible to be critical concerning the band.
It seems like that some people in this forum is so fanatical, that they won't accept any critícal views and call people bashers. As long as everything Stones is GREAT, FANTASTIC, BEST EVER you're part of the in-crowd. Whenever you say...well they could do better, then you are bashing the band.
Come on...you got to be realistic...sometimes they are on fire and deliver the greatest show and on other evenings they just don't.
They are human...sometimes they are fantastic and sometimes they're not. Just like the rest of us.
Anyway overall they're the greatest f****** band in the World.

Regarding having an off night...

Journalist to Angus Young, "What goes through your mind when you hit a wrong note?"
Angus Responds,"I have never hit a wrong note in my life!"

...I do agree any band can have their off moments, but every time I have tickets to a stones show, I look forward to it and I enjoy it for exactly what it is, a stones concert.

By the way, I totally forgive Keith for messing up the intro to bs. You are right, it's the experience of the whole show. the was just the first thing that ran across my mind when I heard it. I love Keith, just for being Keith. The thing is I know why he hits those sour notes occasionally, its an easy fix, but aesthetics are more important I guess.

Yeah you can forgive the old mr. Riff much :-)
Hope his condition gets better. It must be hard for him not being able to be what he's the best at all the time.

Keith's been fcuking up the intros to BS and JJF on and off for years [certainly screwed them up a few times on the Licks tour]. Doesn't overly bother me..but I don't really understand it.
The only conclusion I've been able to reach is that he simply refuses to discipline himself more as he gets older and the circuits develop a few dry joints.
I'm sure that he could esaily deliver more technically correct performances than he does these days...he just won't copmromise his historical inclination to wing it and follow his fingers. The old fingers aren't as quick as they were...maybe aren't as trustworthy ;^)

all this Keef bashing makes me laugh... the Stones have always @#$%& up occasionally cos they are a truly live band and real people... they @#$%& up at times in the 70's - i remember seeing them at Bingley Hall in 76 and Keef was a mess, however, this is what we love about the Stones.. like us all, they make mistakes, they are REAL - I still loved the show and wouldn't have missed it for anything, they play "LIVE"... true rock/ blues is never perfect, in fact it is full of imperfections like our lives, that is why we love it and identify with it, so when they @#$%& up an intro or a riff, who cares?
The Stones are the greatest show on Earth so stop knocking it man...
See you all at 02...

"till the next time..."

We are not bashing Keith, we are just concerned, We love Keith, he is the heart and soul of the Stones.
But Keith could remedy those sloppy intros by raising his guitar. Playing chords from the angle he holds the guitar can be difficult especially if you are getting older and you have some arthritis setting in. I'm sure that he will not sacrifice looking like a dork in order to get those chords/notes right, and that's OK by me. Guys with double jointed wrists can get away with it (ala Jimmy Page)

I LOVE the fact that Keith messes up the Brown Sugar intro! How many times has that happened with that song? He must have a mental block! Just funny, that's all.

By the way, the intro of Brown Sugar wasn't SO badly @#$%& up. I've heard much worse redentions of it even in the Licks Tour. Get a grip, it was an ok version! At least, I loved it!

I believe that at 62, with a hard hot weather, after 1 hour 45 on stage, we can understand Keith is not at his best and I would add that according the reports, 2 days later he was great in BRNO... as usually the band is at his best one day and not the next one. They are not a machine, thanks god !
