Don't get me wrong, though I love this man I've witnessed, that he's behaving and talking more and more like a parody of himself. It's like watching a double trying to be Keith. It's too much exaggerated.
How would we ever be able to determine that? What? A caricature of the young Keith? The 40-something Keith? Perhaps this is the way a 63 year old Keith should be (or was always going to be given his lifestyle). We have to take the man as he is now, treasure and love him as he is now. We have no template to judge him against. For better or worse he has set the Rock n Roll benchmark for others to follow...
"I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."
Keith is Keith, He is, and always will be the image of Cool.
As a person, he has become more open to the press, still making sure that he throws a joke that may alarm them and their stuffy additude, as does Mick. I don't see him as a very different man, he still dresses pretty much the same, he's just easier to understand! LOL!
I mean, come on, if anyone expects him, or the Stones to be the exact same people they were in the 60's then that would be really sad. Think about it. That would be them standing still. Who would want that? If they stayed the same we wouldn't be seeing them 40 years later, Like so many others, they would have disbanded. If they don't keep creating new and great music, then they'd be just another British invasion band... BUT...
They are the Worlds Greatest Rock N Roll band because they evolve and create some of the best music there is, along with the additions of Lisa, Darryl, Chuck, Blondie...and the others, (even though people complain and say they don't belong...) they are a part of the Amazing evolution of The Rolling Stones...
as long as I'm alive I will continue to buy their latest cd's and go to the shows and Love them with all my heart and soul.
Maybe he became a parody in interviews??? but not in concert!....I found his 70/80 ties interviews more intresting...remember them? that said outside of the boring promotion...interviews i did read some real good ones!
During the 76 european tour, some people said that the rolling stones were caricatures of themselves... so it is not a new topic.
But I really think the answer is yes... but I am sure he plays like an actor on stage, he practises new attitudes, new poses... that's allright for me; It is a part of the show.
I like to see Keith posing like a greek statue, looking at the crowd with eye contacts with first rows.
I agree with MickShick (I quote him) :
"They are the Worlds Greatest Rock N Roll band because they evolve and create some of the best music there is, along with the additions of Lisa, Darryl, Chuck, Blondie...and the others, (even though people complain and say they don't belong...) they are a part of the Amazing evolution of The Rolling Stones...

hey pay pay!i raise a glass in amstel! keith rocks but is parody no doubt, but lives in public eye so very difficult to be his own person - he been famous since he was 19! he would love amstel! jagger would not - only like soft fruit drink and tea - but still rocks! how with soft fruit juice and tea? relax jagger man, stop being healthy guy for some minutes. JAGGER NEEDS AMSTEL!!!!!
I think that when you become an icon, it's impossible NOT to become a caricature of yourself. It's the nature of the beast - a certain level of fame comes with a larger-than-life persona, like it or not. At that point, it's what you do with it that counts. All the Stones are complete caricatures (I'm talking about onstage and in front of the camera - it's not like Keith does the leg kick while making scrambled eggs, though it would kind of rule if he did), but I think they handle it with class and, most of the time, reverency. It's showbiz and they're the consummate pros.
He's like your grandad who fought in the war and survived. Now you sit on his knee (metaphorically) while he recounts his glory stories with a twinkle in his eye. And why not!
