I saw them Sturday night at Churchill Downs in Louisville and enjoyed it very much. Like most of you I like the Stones way more than anyone else so maybe I had lower expectations for the Police. But I have to say they put on a fine show. I was impressed that it was just the three of them performing, with no supporting musicians. I would recommend that you see them if you get a chance.

I saw this show last night in Detroit.

Don't believe the hype. It was bad. Arrogance at it's finest. If you haven't set foot on stage for over 20 years, you can't expect people to pay huge money to listen to all of your warhorses rearranged. Everything was slowed down, and boring. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, don't. If you have, do yourself a favor and sell it while the demand is still there. Too bad, I used to love these guys.

My wife and I actually left early. I don't think I have EVER left a concert early.

Long live The Stones.

I was there last night, too. I found it to be slick, polished, professional entertainment, but I didn't enjoy it very much. Maybe, at 48, I'm too old for this band. I was already 20 when their first album came out. I was already an adult. I guess if I were in my thirties, as most of the crowd seemed to be, and had grown up with this music, as they had, I would have been into it more. But the truth is, this show never caught fire. There was no magic. There was none of that "This is the best thing happening right now anywhere on the planet" feeling that I sometimes get at a Rolling Stones concert.

I saw the very same show last night and I must say the POLICE were stunning. Much tighter, more energetic and inspired then I imagined they would be. Indeed a tremendous surprise as I wasn't expecting much. Of course it didn't hurt that the Palace staff upgraded us to dead-center, main-floor $225 seats after we found our original seats blocked by the video cameras. The mixing board was directly behind us so close I could shake hands with the sound man so obviously the mix was impeccable where we were.

I've heard similar criticisms as the fellow above from people who saw the outdoor stadium version of the show and I imagine those rolling reggae riddims and hard-driving punk beats COULD turn to mush and thus become tedious if one was not in the "sweet spot."

I love the Police and am going to see them in Manchester in October so with regard to the above message (and others) it is nice to read that someone enjoyed seeing them.

As ever though it is a matter of taste.
