RIP Robert Buraas of Madrugada
Posted by: gstone ()

The saddest news just got through. Robert Buraas, fabulous guitarist of Madrugada and frontman in My Micnight Creeps, was found dead in his Oslo appartment last night. He was only 31.
Buraas, a long time Stones-fan, dreamt of warming up for the Stones Oslo show on August 8th. He was also on this board. And I already miss him.
RIP Robert. Go join the fabulous band in heaven, immediately.

Very sad news indeed. I have met him several times, a true Stones fan. His last band My Midnight Creeps were fantastic both on record and live on stage.

A friend of mine, who know him well, went to a Chuck Berry gig in Oslo with Robert the same evening as he died.

This is just so sad.
He was at the top these days. Madrugada having a break, MMC growing week by week, was really expecting them as support in Oslo.
RIP Robert, will miss your guitar playing!

Sorry, I do not know what his nick was. But I do know that he and My Midnight Creeps released two fabulous albums. I saw him on Wednesday, at the Chuck Berry concert. "Let's hope Keith can pull it off like this in his 81st year", I said. And Robert said: "Yeah, that would be fantastic"! And that was the last I saw of him. I suppose he's jamming with Brian now. Brian was one of his big influences.

We are all very, very sad. He will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathy to his family and the rest of the band. Thank you, Robert for everything you did.

Who's fighting, and what for?

Getting this bad news yesterday was the biggest shock !!

IMHO he was Norwegians best R'n R musician.

Met him a few times and had a beer & a Fernet shot with him before the Chuck concert - some of the very last
words he said before we went inside for the fantastic concert: "Stones is my religion"
R.I.P. Robert "The light will always shine on YOU"

You can listen and download 4 songs from this years album "Histamin" & 2 songs from their first album here:

Just got back from Robert's funeral. The church was absolutely packed and there were flowers everywhere. The entire music business, musicians, record companies etc attended. I did not see one dry eye. This was a funeral for one very young and extremely talented person who's now joined the band "The Too Soon Gones".
Robert was found dead with his guitar in hand, and it was placed on top of his shiny black casket. A beautifull red Telecaster, from what I could see. The casket was decorated with red roses. It was a terrible goodbye with a man we'd have loved to have among us for many, many years to come.
His musican colleagues, more than 50 in total, had formed a choir, and gave him a lovely version of W. Earl Brown's "If I can Dream" to accompany him on his last journey. The ceremony ended with his closest friends carrying the casket out, to the tones of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers To Cross". A very warm and beautifull ceremony, for the sweetest, warmest, most talented guitarist his native Norway's ever seen.

Gstone, you were at the funeral, have the guys from Turbonegro and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives been there? Robert was a good mate, but I live in Cologne and couldn´t make it. Shame...
