I don't know if the guardian of the t-shirts would take a tasty bribe. But if anybody could get it done, it would be him.

Hi SCL-I don't want to read all thru this__is this a realistic idea or just fantasy?

I think it's a fantastic idea but it's going to be hell to set it up:
1. who qualifies as an IORRer? I.e. once the word gets out, how do you select free-riders?
2. who makes the setlist?
3. where do we do the show?

Hi Lip. Well it is actually semi-serious. Apparently this idea has been thunk through before. If they will do a private gig for 2-5 mill. What would it take for a fan club to get the money together........Longshot at best seems to be the consensus.

Gazza, the Undercover crowd is rather a small group, eh?

I don't think there's any harm with going ahead...if it's approached
strategically and with acceptance of any response...

Re: Should we arrange a private IORR gig?

It is a small group - yes. I think some of them had delusions of grandeur, but its nice to dream

You'll probably find that a lot of the Stones crew and staff will be already booked to return home or whatever from about August 27th, so expecting them at short notice to extend things for a few days is a no-no.

That, plus they'll be wanting the tour to end with a 'big bang', not with a private show in front of a few hundred people.

Yeah, times have changed - things that didn't happen years ago is history.
They won't go on forever and they know that too.
so, why not give something back to the fans.

and like Pauly said - you can ask.

I don't know.

We might have to settle for less than
The Rolling Stones...

great idea/I am in - probably should join up with Shoubidoo/Rocks off. Submit a set list - record the show at least for the fans
$1000 is fine in case of a special set list

can BV react on this ?

Yes we should.

And I'd like to have a few words with the band about a number of things.

Its a wonderful utopian dream- but thats all it is.
- you went to alot of effort,Pauly, a couple of months ago, to try and secure a
private IORR show, with the best tribute band in the world- 'The Rollin' Stoned', sadly for everyone on this site, that wasn't to be.
Organising such a show, with the real deal, would be 1000+ times as hard with barrier and shut door after shut door to overcome.

If there is enough interest for a private show, in the near future,
The Rollin' Stoned is the economic, and logistically easier, band of choice.

I'm sure this could be organised, at a fraction of the cost, and would be (nearly) as much fun as the real deal.
At least this way, you'd get to see Brian Jones and MT run through
'Shes a Rainbow' etc, etc.

To hire a cover band was not was 've meant.
It's possible to geht them I know that and right now I've to find out the conditions for such a deal.

I love this idea! If I remember well, The Police did such an intimiate show for their fanclub members prior to their current world tour start. Watching the videos on YouTube (don't know if they are still there), it looked like it was big fun for both the band and their fans - it was like a public rehearsal, band members chatting with the audience between numbers etc., very loose & relaxed (I guess that's what Paulywaul has in mind). If The Police can do it for their fans, I see no reason why it should be impossible per se for Stones! Barriers and shut doors will only occur when the Stones just don't want to do it. If they like to do it, it can be sorted out - if there is a will by the band, there will be a way to realize it.

Plus, if the band is really up or it, I believe that we could get tickets for a lot less than $ 1.000 - they know that we are not Deutsche Bank...!

However, for this time it's too late. Gazza already mentioned that after the London shows, the band and their entourage will go their separate ways. Even if it is possible to squeeze such a show in at short notice, the problem remains that there won't be enough time to rehearse unusual stuff for the fanclub show. The right time for such a show would be near the end of the rehearsals for their next tour (if there will ever be one!), when they are fresh and when it will be possible to do an extra day or two of rehearsals just for the obscure stuff. So my guess is that even if this show somehow manages to take place this time at short notice, time restrictions will prevent us from hearing those real 'rarities' and I am not sure that a pretty common setlist is exactly that what we really want.

The Astoria, one night only. And the boys can play exactly WHAT they want, not having to cater to "Stones-virgins". When they know who's in the audience, I think we can get a far better price than Deutsche Bank got. They know that they can charge whatever they want from multi national companies. This show, for the REAL fans only - one ticket per person who's subscribed to IORR and paid the fee - they'd love to do! I just know it. If someone could get a letter through to Keith, he'll light up like a giant light house. And Charlie will back him, and Ronnie will be extatic - and Mick will be flattered.
Let's go for it!

What a great idea.

Let's all buy a ticket for the euro lottery tonight and if any of us win it we have to treat everyone else to a private Stones show. What's the prize money tonight?

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

>> Plus, if the band is really up for it <<

well, yeah - i would think that's fairly obvious! when the band is up for it, they do it;
they choose the date, venue & setlist and the tickets for such events have cost $0 - $50.
if the proposal on the table is to send the Stones a message that we would love it if they did that ...
sure thing, that doesn't take long! and it's no big surprise, i wouldn't think -
but what the hell, maybe they don't know we'd love that, so: yeah, by all means, let's let 'em know!
smile: i'm sure the Rolling Stones will be deeply touched. :E

ahem, i mean! what Gangster seems to be proposing is a different matter altogether:
trying to hire them, plus a venue, to do a show for a private audience with (apparently!) very specific demands,
and with (somehow) enough money to induce them to "feel like" doing it. which seems ... problematic to me.

(not to state the obvious, but: a "stripped-down show" still involves major expenses
like transport, accommodations, security, sound/equipment crews, etc etc.
as Julien Temple said in 1983: "the Rolling Stones move about the world with all the largeness of medieval barons.")

2000 or maybe even 3000 hardocore fans from all IORR,Rocks Off,SHIDOOBEE and Stonesvikings,( sorry If I miss somenone) to avoid loss of tickets to "tourists"

I fully agree. SENTIMENT is a fine thing, and essentially the reason why I'd have to agree with Gazza that we're all pissing in the wind here with respect to such an idea ... is that WE have lots of it, but I don't think the Stones do. And until that changes, and I can't see it happening, I don't think there's a puddy cat's chance in hell of them even entertaining the thought to be honest. From the various interviews and docs we've seen over the years, the most recent that springs to mind is the "Being Mick" one, I think Jagger in particular is extremely devoid of "sentiment" as we would see it. He's probably quite proud of what he/they have accomplished, but I do get the impression there's no great place for sentiment within him.

Anyway, it's nice to dream I guess ... !
