"A COOL KIND OF SWAGGER: The Best Of Solo Jagger"

Would that be a cool title for the album or what???

In honour of the news that Sir Mick shall be getting the compiled 'Best Of' treatment, here's what any best-of solo jagger could, nay,SHOULD have on it: (Addendum: IMO of course^)

Side 1:

Memo from turner

Wandering spirit

Lonely at the top

Blue ( I know, probably won't have GITD stuff on there, but,'Blue' is too flippin' good not to include here, 'nuff said)

Out of focus

She's The Boss

Side 2:

Don't look back(with peter tosh)

Hard woman

Throwaway

Party Doll

Hang on to me tonight

Angel In My Heart

..and especially included on the Irish version of the album,Mick romping through 'Long Black Veil' with the Chieftains!

** Of course, the BEST part is the sticker on the front of the album -- the sticker being a quote from Keith -- and 'twould say:

" Great stuff! F-ing great stuff from my buddy".

Wooo!

Nice compilation of songs but what about the title?

Swagger - well it fits Mick too, but somehow I find it already taken
by Keith in conjunction with Pirates and Johnny Depp.

Mick is more the tippytoe brainbell jangler - well, you know, IMO.

I think "Swag" might not be a bad name for the compilation...

and here's my picks, minus the 3 new tunes:

God gave me everything
Memo from turner
Hard Woman
Wandering Spirit
Blue
Just another night
Lonely at the top
Evening Gown
Gun
Visions of Paradise
She's the Boss
Say you will

"The Best Of Mick Jagger" will do just fine.

hahaha, the album cover should be Keith with the "Who the @#$%& is Mick Jagger" t shirt, yes! I love the title "A Cool Kind of Swagger"! Good stuff!

This would be my list of songs:

01. God Gave Me Everything
02. Everybody Getting High
03. Sweet Thing
04. Joy
05. Out Of Focus
06. Old Habits Die Hard
07. Gun
08. Memo From Turner
09. Hard Woman
10. Wired All Night
11. Blue
12. Handsome Molly

He probably would add one or two new ones.

for me a 'best of solo jagger' looks like:

1. Evening Gown
2. Don't Tear Me Up
3. Memo For Turner
4. Evening Gown
5. Don't Tear Me Up
6. Memo For Turner
7. (rinse and repeat until double cd length)

takin' the piss...but really do love those 3...probably haven't listened more deeply to the others...i admit for whatever reasons, maybe unfair cause when i hear mick without the stones, mostly, not always, but very much mostly, especially on studio stuff...it just dosen't usually hold me...that's probably my bad, and not mick's...but that's how it's been for me anyway...maybe will change some other day...mebbe not. jest an opinion...kinda like God gave me everything too...

I won't do the work of the people putting together the compilation now, but I hope that it won't be too streamlined. Please avoid soft pop like Dancing in the Starlight or Visions Of Paradise. My most played songs from GITD include Hide Away, Joy and Everybody Getting High. In choosing a song from WS, you can't do much wrong, but it's still strange to me, how Sweet Thing became the 1st single. For the PC album, the 1st side got all you need for a compilation. I don't have the STB disc, but the non-album Dancing in the Streets should be on it.
So now let's wait and see. I'm kind of curious about the three new songs, because the Scorcese movie soundtrack might have a few new songs, too.

A couple of thoughts -

What about the duets? "You're So Vain", "Dancing In The Streets", "Nothing But The Wheel", "State Of Shock", etc ? The Red Devils? Should they be included. Now we're talking about 2 CD's.

I'd also include "Say You Will".

"No Anchovies, Please"

Funny that nobody mentioned Too Many Cooks as a candidate for this album. It's an unreleased track, yes, but this would be the perfect opportunity to get it out - and Rhino should be experienced enough to sort out the legal things. As there is no further Stones involvement, I doubt that it would be considered for a future Stones archive project, it belongs to the "Jagger solo" canon and I'd love to have this one in official quality.

...just like a "Best Of Keith Richards" CD would offer a perfect opportunity to finally give Run Rudolph Run and They Harder They Come the official CD debut both tracks deserve. It's a shame that these tracks are overlooked in terms of official availability. And just like Too many Cooks, I doubt they they would be considered within the boundaries of a Stones archive project (if it ever happens, that is!).

Youre so Vain? No...its a great song, but as Mick isnt even credited on the record, its a bit of a stretch to call it a duet as those with The Jacksons and Bowie were...

True, but his voice is louder than Carly's on the later choruses.

I think MEMO FROM TURNER would be a sh*tload of legal problems... RUTHLESS PEOPLE wasn't too bad.... The RED DEVILS boot (complete CD) with MICK is AMAZING, that would be great !!! TOO MANY COOKS would be a gas, gas, gas.... this thing has to be a double... should throw in a bonus CD of Vids and that concert he did in NY for WANDERING SPIRIT - Webster Hall..... BLUE has gotta be on it too, great song - ALMOST Stones sounding, very close.....

The Carly Simon box set "Clouds In My Coffe" is rumoured to feature a remix of You're So Vain.... Anybody out there who has it/heard it?

I don´t think we´ll see any material from the period before She´s The Boss, cause it´s not widely known, more or less.

It would be nice to see two CDS for the price of one in the package, one a best of and the other with b-sides, soundtrack stuff, rarities, etc.

My main concern is that it includes tracks not already released on CD -- "I'm Ringing" and "Catch As Catch Can" in particular, but also single version of "Hard Woman".

My main concern is that it contains most possible of new songs and/or previously unavailable songs.
The Jagger 12" and 7" from the 80s and 90s are VERY easy to find, and not expensive either. Everybody seems to wanna get rid of them - and sell them to 2nd hand stores.
Apart from the new material - I hope Jagger will pick out his favourite songs,
but I truely believe it will be "the big singles" - despite of the horror of that stuff...thinking about the 80s + GITD

Well I've already got 'em on vinyl (even the "Hard Woman" 12"); I would like to have them on CD.

I didn't to pick on mean you exactly - I meant in general, well yes it's nice to have things on CD - then again, most of them are awful - exceptions are Hard Woman and to a certain extent: I'm Ringing
Well anyhow: I look forward to his new songs - even though I fear the worst

I beg to differ, I think "Catch As Catch Can" is one of his best solo songs. Somehow reminds me of "Long, Long While".

I won't mention mine, but I'll give ya' a hint: The initials of the song are the same as my initials.

I don't know what songs will be on this CD, but I DO know that "State Of Shock" definitely won't be on there. Are you kidding? Michael Jackson? His reputation these days is lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut.
