lyrics? moon is up isn't exactly Chaucer-esque

Was VL a big seller at the time? It seems like it got a lot of promotion, and of course the tour was huge. Also seemed like the video for Love is Strong is very recognizable by Stones fanatics and regular fans alike.

i actually think the MIU lyrics are quite good (at least for latter-era stones). certainly better than I go wild & BNC. (not that i'm knocking those two tunes.) then again, we didn't yet realize the depths that mick would sink to lyrically . . . RJ, SOL etc.

i'm still reeling from the news that BNC isn't about an automobile. Next thing you'll tell me is that Little Red Rooster ain't about a farm animal....

I was at both of those too, Elmo. Great tour. And Columbia really rocked! And that was the show where Keith fumbled the guitar intro to The Worst. He stopped stepped back, then came back to the mic and said Something like "Well, that's my privilege." I've been using that little phrase quite often through the years. Cheers Y'all and Happy 4th!

Love the studio version, just raw power!

Don't like the live version, because of Lisa. Leave her out and you get what would be another great option for, let's say, the first half of the concert.

Thanks, Duane.

As nikki says, it's followed by BNC - another one that I love that cathches hell on here.

5string - that opening set in Columbia by Blind Melon was the poorest excuse for music that I had heard up until that time. A few semi-rarities at those shows - "Heartbreaker" in Columbia and "All Over Now" and "Far Away Eyes" in Atlanta. Oh yeah!

I was lucky enough to miss Blind Melon, and I try to avoid openers at all Stones gigs. Those that I have heard have been some of Earth's sorriest shows. And btw whatever became of Blind Melon? Cheers and Happy 4th!

The singer, Shannon Hoon, OD'd about 10 years ago. Shame to go that young but all things said and done, I hated that guy's voice. Like a pre-pubescent Perry Farrel.

The lead singer ODed.

I'm like you, I generally skip the opener, except in the rare case of a good one.

yikes, how can you be a pre-pubescent pubescent? that's a new categry altogether!

Well I'm very sorry to hear that! I would not have been so "flippant" had I known. But it was an honest question and I'm sorry for all the Blind Melon fans, and the singer.

Sorry the guy ODed, but that said, they sounded really bad.

I used to hate Brand New Car with a passion, but now I've kinda warmed up to it. It's still not a good song by any means, but it's still better than duds like I Go Wild and Out Of Tears.

IMO "I Go Wild" and "Blinded By Rainbows" are BY FAR the best album's tracks.

god, do i LOVE IGW. one of my alltime, ALLTIME favorite stones tracks. its ferocity is unrivaled by anything they have done since, perhaps, CYHMK, or at least since 'slave'.

an absolutely phenomenal showcase for each member of the band, this track sets my soul on fire. i could go on and on, but i think i've made my point.

It sold very well, about 5.5 million copies during the first year and half (July '94 - Dec. '95) and more than 500k since then (200k+ in U.S between 1996-2006).

It was #1 in 21 countries, 24 weeks inside the Top 50 on Billboard's chart, 34 weeks inside the UK's Top 100, 6 weeks at #1 in Europe...
It's their 3rd best selling studio album behind Some Girls (10 m) and Tattoo You (8 m).
It got 4 UK Top 40 hits (IGW was one of them reaching #29), only Some Girls did the same and with a combination of different UK & US singles.

"I Go Wild" is very mediocre.

I would rather have seen "Jump on Top of Me" or "So Young" on Voodoo Lounge instead of I Go Wild.

As a matter of fact they should have dropped

I Go Wild
Brand New Car
Suck on the Jugular

They should have added

Jump on Top of Me
The Storm
So Young
The Nearness of You

Well, everyone has an opinion, but in the last 2 decades I Go Wild and Out of Tears are by far some of the best work by our guys! Consider the gits on IGW! So full and powerful! Then the stucture of OOT. That is not ordinary music, or lyrics. Pure soul!

Well, Ronnie Wood said in an interview that he voted for The Storm to put on the record, another question ist there a format except for the cassette & the CD where mean disposition is on? It´s not on the vinyl

Count me in to the fan club. It was a really impressive song live in VL tour

I love it too but it`s an easy song. Take a great band, some great sounding guitars, play some powerchords et voila, a good song. It`s not as challenging as some of their earlier work but I guees it`s a nice listen.
