Perhaps some subject or key words in one of our threads is triggering it. It could be off topic; might not even be Stones related.....just a theory.

it could well be the Hot Stuff pages - i reckon one can download stuff without registering?
maybe someone recently added iorr to some big downloader depot site or something?

I don't know - but Bjornulf just added this feature some weeks ago, no?
I guess we always had that many guests.

no, it's been there for a long time - at least the "record number" was always there,
and it was never anywhere close to 800 until just recently.

Maybe the answer is :

sssoul,relax and have some popcorn. I'm also guessing it's a new way of counting. Perhaps bv hired a Florida election worker to count guests.

There's a new type of registration. Notice when you log out. And there's the t-shirt and the tour. I think perhaps the sudden increase came at the very moment they started the new log out-regime, or I might be wrong?

Oh, ok - I have a theory.
some years ago we already had a feature that counted the guests here. Then Bjornulf stopped with it. 'I believe the record number of guests that was shown here was still the record number from a couple of years ago. No that it started counting the guests again it went up as more people read IORR now than some years go.

yeah, that might be, Lorenz! the long-standing "record number" i remember was from may 10th 2005,
(the Julliard performance/press conference) and if he turned it off for a while after that ... yeah, that might be.
but what the hell were so many people lookin for at 9:43 AM CET the morning before the Barcelona show??

I distinctly remember BV mentioning that he works hard with the search engines to keep IORR close to the top on search results. Recently, I was looking for a new fleur-de-lis design for my signature and up popped some of my old posts!

Does the "View" counter include visitors who read a thread? And if so, have those numbers been going up too?

yes, that's what "guests" means. that's what we're talkin about.
583 of 'em at the moment.

my guess would be "Hot Stuff" section. in the last 8 months, the floodgates of free mp3 boots of shows and unreleased stuff has snowballed with all music groups. it's just been increasing since the licks tour, and now people are offering up non-commercially available material that everyone used to die to trade for or find a physical copy of.

withsssoul's prescient comments and insights are probably only accounting for 35% of the guests. another 15% have got to be for bv, gazza, rockman, baboon bro, a few others, news on the european tour......and the remaining 290 are no doubt on Hot Stuff. i'm doing my part by most likely driving another 5% away. if you had to register and log on for Hot Stuff, we would see the diff right away in user #'s.

....or else the whole world is fascinated by our setlist slagging, bad jokes, and kr's health threads and are picking up points to use on their own favorite groups.
