Handle with Care

Ok so they are at number one, and I cant stop playing this track. Heres my analogy:
George - his voice sounds dripped in honey. Reminds me for some reason of the late, great Rick Danko. Its his audition for heaven
Roy Orbison - He is already in heaven. Its a perfect vocal.
Dylan and Petty - Snappier than a crocodile. Rough and ready
And Jeff Lyne - made it sound wonderful

What a beautiful song - "Oh the sweet smell of success" Like they didn't know!

I haven't purchased this yet but the bonus DVD is described as having 5 video clips; so which one is missing? I've also read one of the videos is edited (they cut out Whoopi Goldberg or something).

These clips are not taken from the DVD.

I think Nobody's Child is the clip that is not on the DVD.

Yes, Nobodys Child is not included because there ain´t any of them appearing in the clip. This wasn´t produced by them, only by the label. I think this group is very beautiful & great but it was Jeff Lynne produced and this means that it really sounds a little bit kitschy. I like the two records and i also like them all solo except for Jeff Lynne because he makes a lot of records sound like Las Vegas Acts, but anymay....

Handle With Care is great for sure. Always loved it. There's a stinky Danish version of the song with would-be stars from the Danish 60s scene. They probably thought that they could be seen as Travelling Wilburys if they did a cover. It really sucks.

Tom Petty played this song on his last couple of tours as a tribute to the other guys. It worked pretty well despite their absence.

Trembling, Traveling Wilbury's - Wonderful bunch of guys, wonderful album(s)....for me, the gem to top it all off was 'Not Alone Anymore" . I still get shivers up and down my spine hearing the "Big O" (or was he "Lefty Wilbury"?). George perhaps unconciously, formed the group in that it had great, great musicians and songwriters, with exceedingly strong personalities and individual skills on their own, but really "clicked" when they were together....much like another of George's bands.

I recall about 1988-89, seeing Nelson Wilbury (Harrison) in an MTV(?) interview saying: "Keith Richard a Wilbury, but George Micheal isn't". George was conveying about real heart and soul musicians rather than manufactured "stars". If I recall, Neil Young made the list too, (related to Wilbury's).

Brian would have made an excellent Wilbury...

BTW - in the new DVD about "making of" I see a studio engineer, at Bobs studio, wearing a T-shirt saying "X-Pensive...". Could this be Keiths X-pensive Winos? This was filmed April 1988. Winos had formed but no album out till Oct 1988.

The reissued CDs w/DVD is well worth it! Miss Roy & George!

I found it interesting that on one of the 2 newly released songs on Volume 1 (either Maxine or Like A Ship), Jeff Lynne has done some extra production and Ayrton Wilbury is credited as playing guitar on it. I believe Ayrton Wilbury is George's son Dhani, who would have taken the name Ayrton in tribute to one of George's racing car driver heroes, Ayrton Senna. If you look closely in The Beatles Anthology, in the scenes where the Beatles are being interviewed in George's house, you can see an Ayrton Senna poster on the wall behind them. Senna died in 1994, which was around the time the interview would have been filmed.

I ran into and briefly spoke to Dhani Harrison at the Stones Dodger Stadium show on November 22nd. I was a little surprised to see him as he walked in a few minutes before the Stones went on stage.
