What happened to Out Of Control and Love Is Strong???

What happened to the 2 great gems from the 90s that we got see this tour? Out of Control should definitely be a warhorse. It's great live. And Love is Strong is one of their best ever. I feel like I would be less disappointed by the lack of ABB songs if they at least played some 90s songs that aren't YGMR.

Out Of Control was tried out on this tour but it did not work like originally. So I will keep my 1997-1998 memories of that song and accept the fact that they don't do it anymore. Love Is Strong has been done some times on this tour and will probably show up in London O2 and may be even some other places. If you go to many shows you will probably get it.

I can do without Love Is Strong, but Out Of Control was in potential the new Midnight Rambler. Too bad it didn't work during the rehearsals.

You are so right. As a matter of fact, before the Frankfurt concert when I met with other IOORers I said the exact same thing. The times I saw Out Of Control played live it was EXACTLY what I thought...THIS is the new Midnight Rambler...it was awesome. It is a shame that it has been dropped.

Both great songs.

My "wet dream" is a setlist with no songs from before 1989 - unless of course it is some kind of tribute to heroes dead or alive. There are songs enough.

Well..to really make it the total wet dream - for me - maybe they could dive back to 1985 to resurrect "One Hit To The Body" as the opener. And would not mind hearing "Sleep Tonight" in Keef's set.

Bus as for the rest - 1989 or newer! ;-)

Out of control highlights the fact that mick jagger is still a vocal force live, and any crowd that is lucky enough to get it, go mad at the chorus. i love the bootleg show in argentina when they play it.

I saw both live on this tour. They played Out of Control the first time through NYC and Love Is Strong the second time.

and how many rock songs boast a harmon-mute trumpet solo like OOC?

mofur, very interesting sentiment that i don't think i've EVER read, seen or heard; -"My "wet dream" is a setlist with no songs from before 1989 - unless of course it is some kind of tribute to heroes dead or alive. There are songs enough." very interesting.

SW- MixedEm, Terrifying, AHYS, BTS...
VL- LIS, YGMR, SWF, thru 'n thru...
B2B- OOC, SOM, theif, juiced, ASMB?, FTS...
ABB- UTR, RFD, LMDS, RJ, LIND, LWTCDI, BOMH...
and a cover tune or so

"I Go Wild" is fantastic live. Guitar song all the way.
Add that.

or just play 'aftermath'.

Mofur, I would LOVE to see a show with nothing but post 1989 songs. Even an arena show with this would be great, but I'm sure it'd have to be a club show. I would pay good money to see this. I live in New York, maybe they'd be willing to do it here.

I think opening with Low Down would amazing. And maybe they'd even be willing to have 2 encores. The first to end with a fast/popular song like Out of Control or even Look What TCDI and then come back and do one slow song, maybe Out of Tears or Already Over Me. Streets of Love would be a great closer too.

Have they done "Let me down real slow" live? I LOVE that song.

I also agree that a few shows with nothing but post 1989 songs would be excellent. I almost drool to that concept!!

How many times did they try it out? About five?

Why shouldnt they still be able to do it as well as they used to? 1999 is only 8 years ago..its not like its 1969 - and the song was an absolute standout night after night on BTB/NS.

In fact, its one of the few songs in recent years that consistently wowed the casual fan who went just to hear the old stuff and found themselves realising that a new songs could STILL be a high point of a latter day Stones show.

If anything, they could do with more LIKE it.

How about "Mean Disposition" on the B-Stage?

I saw Out of Control twice this tour (Fenway and Hartford) and thought they played it just as good if not better than a few years back. A highlight of both shows. How can someone say it didn't work? The crowd reaction to it was great as well, people seemed blown away by the jam at the end.

Sucked that is was only played a few times.

Maybe they'll play it later on in the tour as a replacement for Can't You Hear Me Knocking. We'll see, in the mean time we have the memories from 1998/1999 with Mick playing an excellent harp and doing the duck walk.

I caught Out Of Control three times this tour (Fenway, Giants & Philadelphia). It was great each time. Take more risks boys.

Out of Control was maybe one of the best songs at Fenway, crowd loved it!

.... there at there best, no one can hit em when there theatorical, , thats the glimmer of brillance that now seldom seeps thru,, its as thou it scares jagger, he touches it for a moment and then thats it, 'lets play tumbling dice.. and people wonder why the guitarists are loaded up ...

what happened to 'out of control'? control is a great piece of work that is left stacked behind some boxes in storage, in favor of a 'run thur this number real quick' worn out horse.....

I totally agree, I love both of those songs.

That would be great. Do it in a club and put it out on DVD, even with as many live releases as they have that one would be unique.
