Admit it, you hope they don't play Satisfaction!
Date: May 30, 2007 16:02

First, a disclaimer: Yes, this thread mainly concers those of us who are proud to call ourselves "set-list carers." Set-list apologists are welcome to not respond.

Anyway, am I the only one who fervently hopes that the 'Boys' left Satisfaction back in the States? It's no longer an actual song - it's just a cliche. And the casual fans always enjoy it far too much; check out the corporate A-holes going wild on Four Flicks MSG. (By far the lowlight of that otherwise excellent disc.)

In conclusion, I can't get no satisfaction with Satisfaction!

So if I'm not a setlist carer, I automatically become a setlist apologist? That's not right. How would you feel if I told you that setlist carers are the same as setlist whiners?

there's something embarassing about the song at this point, isn't there? it's the only Stones tune i feel that way about . . .

"And the casual fans always enjoy it far too much"

Aint that the whole bleeding point of a gig???

Defo inc. satisfaction! I'd suggest in the style of the Flashpoint CD that was great fun at the Cardiff gig I was at.

er, isn't that true of EVERY stones song?

Yes, true, so I won´t care that much (for once) about what songs I´ll hear, and should this really be the last time, something would be missing if they didn´t do Satisfaction, wouldn´t it?

Last year in Stuttgart SATISFACTION was great. I'd love to hear it again that version!

Agreed, I wish they would give this song a much needed rest, however I must say I find Start Me Up rather embarassing these days. And Mick's dancing during this song is as well.

Would everyone be truly satisfied if they didn't play it?

Probably 99% of the paying customers would be disappointed NOT to hear it.

Well, I would rather hear it than Cherry Oh Baby........anyday, AND, most importantly, Mrs Oily will be p1ssed if she doesn't get to hear it.
Hope it's a short hard version though :-)

Oily.

The Stones didn't play Satisfaction hardly at all in the 70s and I never heard one complaint back then, they have other hits to please fans.

No idea what this thread is really about. Was it started by somebody who doesn't like the Stones? Perhaps a fan who doesn't want anybody else to go to the gigs? And then there's the 'casual fans always enjoy it far too much' gem of a statement. if it wasn't for the casual fans and the new fans, there wouldn't be any world tours for anybody to go to. If it's all to embarassing, including Micks dancing, keep your money in your pocket, stay at home and smell the coffee.

Well, I have been to 48 Stonesshows so far, and I have always loved that song, still love to hear it live. But to me it really doesn't matter that much what they play. As long as I can see the Stones live, I am happy

I think you are right. I was stupid enough to reply.

Right Thurrick, I don't like the Stones. That's why I'm going to FOUR SHOWS this summer. And where did I say I don't want anybody else to go to the gigs? I just was saying that Satisfaction appeals to the lowest common denominator of fan. I'm sorry if you couldn't read the original post - perhaps some remedial English courses are in order?

And where the hell did I say anything about Micks' dancing? Personally, I love it . . .

Fool.

"Satisfaction appeals to the lowest common denominator of fan"

This stuff really gets my goat! Total BS. Keep your opinion on whether you want to hear a certain song and not your generlisation on your idea of certain fans!

And sure, I wish they play it, cuz after all this years still makes you jump and dance.

Why can't you have a preference of what you would like them to play. I hear fans and critics make comments about them playing the same songs each tour. As a follower of this band for a long time I would like to see them mix it up more and show everyone all the amazing songs they have written.

It really would be fun to listen to the arguments when they decide which songs to play, and even more interesting, which ones not to play and why. There´s so many good songs that they have never played live for some reason.
