Instead of a abysmal support-band I'd prefer the Rolling Stones playing more than two hours.

That is not going to happen. No opener in Houston, they waited until their usual starting time and played about two hours.

Is this for sure? No opening act?

I read it as wishful thinking - the Stones playing 3 & a half hours...

on the other hand there's no mention of a support act yet.

That's right. Their equipment was set up, getting the final tune ups done, and at the last moment one of their guys called in sick. Some bloody awful want-to-be comedian filled in the time Los Lonely Boys would have played. I would think that would have to qualify as the Stones' worst ever opening act.

It would be my guess that if the Stones don't come up with an opener in Frankfurt, they still won't play much longer than usual.

How do you know there won´t be a support act in Frankfurt?

Since we still don't know the opening acts, we can guess that they don't need to announce huge acts to sell the tickets (remember ACDC in Germany in 2003)
My fear is that we will have to endure local bands in most of the cities where the opening acts are still unknown, like it has been for many last-minute sheduled concerts in the past.

Here are a few examples :
Luxembourg 95
Istanbul 98
Zurich 03
