They asked Bill to come on this tour in Europe

According to a reporter in Cannes, who had access to an interview Bill did with a Scandinavian newspaper, the Stones asked him to come along on theis Euro-tour with them... His answer was to go out on one of his mist extensive tours of Scandinavia. he's busy with his own band, and will turn 71 while on tour.
did anyone pick up in which newspaper this interview was printed? Please post it.

Every tour since Voodoo Lounge, it is claimed Bill was invited back. He hasn't been a contractual member of the band since 1991. It is hardly likely that he would consider coming aboard as a hired hand. While many of us may hear differences in the band's sound without Bill on bass, most of the public would never notice a thing. There is no financial incentive for the band to invite him back, so quite honestly, I doubt whether there is any truth to these stories whatsoever.

Bill's always saying that he would re-join the band for one final gig. That's it...

I've never heard that. But if true, and it was announced, I could only imagine the rush to get tickets.

That is a true lie from the person who said so. Bill quit 15 or so years ago and there is no way they would have botherede to add him into a tour which is almost finished, unless Darryl was run over by a bus or something. But you can easily find another great bass played dressed in black. Bringing back Bill would mean splittingt the income in 5 rather than 4. I don't believe it for a second.

In the immortal words of Robert Plant when asked why he and Jimmy Page didn't include John Paul Jones on their '90s reunion tour: "Because a million dollars split two ways is more than a million dollars split three ways."

money aside, i'd like to see bill back. maybe they can get around the money element by having bill sell bootleg shirts in the parking lot. i figure bill can up his income potential by charging for an autographed bootleg t-shirt.

To be more precise about the income and how they split it. The formula is complex. Ronnie was the new kid for ages. He has now been with the band longer than Bill. Approx 6 years longer. During a time where they have been building the world touring brand stronger if possible. Sure it would be great if Bill would return to the Stones, and my statement about income share was by no means ment litterally, just to give you a picture, but I can't see how he would fit in for the current touring project.

It was Bill who argued for Ronnie to get a farer share!

Back to topic - I doubt this is true. I think the reporter got the wrong end of the stick because I have seen interviews where Bill says he would do a gig or even small UK or European tour if asked. Sometimes, journalists get either carried away or lazy and change what people say a bit. Then the next one puts a different spin on what was said until you get the "chinese whispers" effect where it ends up meaning something different. This is even worse where things are translated between languages because inflections are lost.

What I would like to see is Bil doing one or two songs at O2 - unlikely but not implausable. I'd just like to see him with the band since my first gig was 95.
