hey gazza, i know about the 3 month thing, but what effect would that have on the movie, if they decided to scrap the biggest bang dvd set

Well scrapping the biggest bang dvd set wouldn't hurt the Scorcese project at all..if anything maybe help it a bit. It seems it's too late now to cancel the biggest bang...they probably already pressed the copies of it...spent a lot of time on it already...probably a huge waste of time if they pulled out.

Just as every tour rolls out, in the back of the Stones Inc. mind, they know they gotta consider a DVD for the tour. The planning and filming of the biggest bang started a while before any talks of Scorcese's project. Abandoning it now would be wrong, imho. Besides, the Scorcese project alone cannot solely document the ABB tour. It will be a straight documentary with SOME performances. The Stones still need a DVD with pure performances and (semi) full shows to give a full vision of what the ABB looked and sounded like.

its new, but probably not endorsed by the Stones in any fashion.

I seriously doubt the Biggest Bang DVD will be out on June 12th. Besides the Euro press conference not one word from the Stones camp on this. It's not even listed on Best Buys web site or Amazon. We got nothing to back this up officially that its coming out JUNE 12th.

I just went back to my archives:

- Four Flicks' official announcement was on October 2 2003, 40 days before of the release date.

- The Rock'n Roll Circus DVD official announcement was on September 8 2004, 35 days before of the release date.

- Live Licks official announcement was on September 30 2004, 32 days before of the release date.

- ABB announcement was on July 26 2005, 41 days before of the release date.

- Rarities announcement was on October 18 2005, 34 days before of the release date.

I can't see the new DVD out before of June 26 or July 3...

well..as Justin correctly says, it wouldnt. The arrangement is no Stones releases within 3 months of the film's release, apparently. Thats all. I dont know if that's negotiable with the people distributing 'Shine A light'.

Cant see them scrapping a multi-disc DVD set. Not at this stage when its undoubtedly been mixed, edited and track listings chosen.

Not in the U.K! It was about £40 when released, thats $80! I couldn't believe at the time that the difference in price was so big.

Maybe this lack of promotion for the DVD has something to do with manager Rupert Loewenstein having just retired? Who is going to fill his shoes?

>> Rupert Loewenstein <<

Prince Rupert was their financial manager, nothing to do with promotion.

Maybe they exclusively sell it at the concert sites during the European tour to avoid that people only buy the dvd instead of buying tickets? Although this would mainly increase the sales of the dvd sets on e-bay etc...

Yes it's certainly very similiar to Four Flicks. We should have had more of those boxes, one for every tour

I think the cover looks cool. Maybe I'm wrong and it will be out the 12th. The box looks pretty official with the sticker on it.

I love the cover. Better than the neon tongue on Four Flicks.

I was thinking something similar, after all Prince is giving his latest CD away at the 02.
Too much to ask that the Stones would give anything away, but they might just sell it at the gigs, can always dream I suppose.
Still very strange that there is still no official information about the release date, content or price yet

Is it for sure that the DVD contains Rio ?

For me, it was an average (for the rolling stones) show.. I don't think it is a top show.

I have seen them in Nice, France (Nikaia, august 2006) and the show was very, very fantastic.. they were absolutely in a top form..

Four points which let me think they will include some parts of this show in the DVD :

1) the music was brilliant (for every fans who was there, it was the best Stones show they have ever seen and heard),
2) Keith was acting (two or three times) just for a cameraman in front of him (making closups on his face..),
3) after bending, they (including Charlie) walk several minutes on the stage... very near to the crowd to congratulate their fans and to be congratulated. I think it is not so frequent.. By the way, I have never seen Charlie so close.. he's a very smart man..
4) I was here.. at the second row and Keith's side (this point #4 is a joke).

I have the bootleg and the great performance is confirmed (in despite of a bad quality recording).

So I cross my finger...

I think they're both pretty awful. Not the music but the covers

I was also in Nice and i agree with you...it was a realy great show! It would be great if there is some clips from that show in the dvd set.

Yes.. it was terrific. You can find some minor extract at YouTube.

I have met several people during this show (very friendly and good atmosphere).. people I have also met in Paris show, the month before..

I regret that I don't have their phone numbers.. (maybe I will see them again in Paris, since we share the same section - FOS and Keith side).

And also.. It looks very strange to include Rio in the new DVD since it has been broadcast on TV.. and many copies are available..

So, maybe Rio in the DVD is a hoax ?
Don't you think so ?
