Biggest Bang DVD

"The Biggest Bang DVD with new songs
The new Stones DVD "The Biggest Bang" will be out next month. The DVD will include more than seven hours of Stones live and interviews, six songs released for the first time on DVD, six other songs that have never been released in any format, duets with Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Vedder and Dave Matthews, a tour documentary plus more."

Sounds cool.. but wasn´t there supposed to be a duet between Mick and Christina Aguilera? I´d rather have that than another Dave Matthews duet.. I think he is way too boring... confused smiley

I think that'll be on the Scorcese Shine A Light disc...along, hopefully, with Jack White.
Dave Matthews is like bad breath!

There are three promo clips on youtube.
But nothing else, that's true - and no info available...that's quite weird.
Also there was no word about Europe yet - how will we get it?

Perhaps the same as Four Flicks? TNA or what was it called?

don't give too much credit and hopes for employees at Best Buy...they're not knowledgeable on any "insider" information. Them looking at their computer is the only thing they know how to do. When it comes to future releases...I'd say we would know more than them any day of the week.

i think what was meant by the promos were the clips that the people from the Isle of Wight Festival put up to advertise that the Stones were playing. they put 3 songs up...and they happen to be from Austin which happens to be on the new dvd...

What new songs will be on the DVD? Reallly new songs or some older outtakes or liverecordings?

Jagger announced it, so it's official. The weird part is that there's no cover or confirmation of what's on it, although we do know that.

Dioes anybody else think it's odd that with less than three weeks to go there has not been a single bit of promotion? Nothing at bestbuy.com or rollingstones.com. Weird.

The 4 discs for $29.99 price sounds right. Four Flicks was cheap as chips too.

OT:

To my friends in the UK: is there any reason to think David Dickinson is a Stones fan?

Re: Biggest Bang DVD

It's very odd, yes.

Something must be totally off at the Rolling Stones offices because from the looks of things...they're way behind on a lot of advertising or organization. Seems like they bit off more than they could chew on this one. With the European tour...Scorcese...the biggest bang dvd...they're falling behind.

they must not care much about this dvd set if they haven't even made an official press release about it yet. they might release it very non-chalantly... "oh yeah...and here's this thing we put together for ya...."

Oh. Thanks.

from nick,

with each day that goes by and no press release, june 12th seens very unlikely now, can anyone find any info regrding this, plus it was announced the shine a light is set for a september 14th release in the theaters

Re: Biggest Bang DVD

Don't think it's so unlikely that it will be released.
For whatever reason they just decided not to promote it...

They probably dont' wanna overly emphasize this dvd set too much because in 3 months they're gonna want to bring out that advertising machine out on the public again for "Shine A Light." They prolly don't wanna saturate the public with too much stuff (why stop now, eh?).

They'll most likely announce it formally about a week or even a couple days before its release. They know the hardcores know about it....if Joe Public doesn't know about it...oh well. Seems like they don't mind. If the Scorcese project didn't exist...we would've heard/seen promotion about Biggest Bang as much as we did during Four Flicks.

Was Four Flicks promoted in a regular fashion? Given that it was only available in Best Buy for ages, I'm not sure it was.

There was a launch party in NY on October 29, 2003.
The release date was November 11, 2003.

Best Buy indeed promoted pretty well for it. Banners all over the store...commercials featuring the Stones performing and their little advertisement-magazine that they put in newspapers featured 4 Flicks on the front...you couldn't escape it.

from nick,

i guess my point is that with the shine a light project, does everyone still think this dvd set will be released of could it have been postponed?

For contractual reasons they cant issue any product within 3 months of the release of "Shine A Light", so if it gets postponed then the Scorsese film gets postponed too.....and as its scheduled for the Toronto Film Festival in late September, thats not going to happen.
