OT: What´s your favourite football team (and how is it doing this season)?
Posted by: TooTough ()

Mine is the HSV (Hamburger SV), in Germany
closing the season as 7th after being 18th (last)
during February (!). So after all it turned out fine, even reaching
the UEFA Intertoto Cup, what might end in the UEFA Cup tournament.

What´s yours?

Mine is Brøndby IF, but I'm not that into football much these years. They've been in the top three since 1992 (I think), except for this season. They're gonna end up at #6 (Out of 12 teams). They haven't won an away match in more than a year now. FC Copenhagen is what's cooking in Danish football at the moment and there's no denying it unfortunately. They've already won the championship.
My home town is also in the Danish Superleague. AC Horsens. They are at #8 (They moved up to the Superleague 2 years ago, so it seems their finding their ground). It's just not my team though.

Mine is Inter. Won the scudetto this year. But next year Juve and Milan are back, non-penalized and it will be a lot harder. In Germany I lost touch; my team used to be Bayern but with all the international stars I got cvonfused.

Well, my username is "gooner", so everyone of you knows my team (Gooner means Arsenal supporter). We did not have very good season, but 4th place is good enough after all difficulties we had.
Here in Finland HJK's (Helsinki Football club) winnings makes me always happy.

One of my biggest dream is that Finland will qualify to Euro2008 and England will win the title....just a funny dream...

Football is playing with the ball with your feet. Greatest sport in the world. It's got everything you want in a sport. Drama. excitement, beauty, great crowds, sing a longs the stadium, you name it. Even a draw can be good.

football - 'The beautiful game'!!

Soccer is an American term for football!

Oh come on man. Listen even I find myself watching soccer (football) at times but it's far from the most exciting sport in the world. In most games the scoring is so low that it makes hockey look like a scorefest.

You want to make soccer (football) more exciting? Get rid of the goalie and make the net narrower. That way you will have games that are 10-9 instead of 1-0.

My team is Blackburn Rovers who finished 10th in the Premier League and have qualified for the UEFA Inter-Toto Cup (Sounds romantic!). We also lost to the eventual winners Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. We won the Premier League in 1994-95 and the Football League Cup in 2002.

Benni McCarthy finished the season as 2nd top goalscorer with 18 goals.

Favourite players: Morten Gamst Pedersen (previously interviewed by Tralala, who I will be meeting on 26th August at the O2 in London) and Tugay, legendary Turkish delight.

Sadly, the Premier League is loosing it's attraction due to money being the 'B all and end all' (sounds familiar!), and the domination of the so called Big 4, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal

Look forward to talking footie with IORR fans at Barcelona and London on 26th August at the O2.

My favourite football team is the San Francisco 49ers and the season does not begin until September.

They had an better season last year and we are all hoping for a return to the glory days of the 80s and 90s when we won 5 out of 5 Super Bowls. Other teams have won 5 Super Bowls, but no one more than 5 and no one with a perfect 5 out of 5.

Here's to a return of the glory days of Joe Montana and Steve Young!!!

Linfield FC - won Irish league and cup 'double' for 2nd successive season, to follow last year's clean sweep of all domestic trophies.

probably because the sport was always called that , because it predates the American version and is recognised worldwide as 'football'

Might also be something to do with the fact that every player in the squad is allowed to use their feet to strike the ball, as opposed to just two 'special team' players

Favorite football (not soccer) teams are the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League who play at BC Place in Vancouver. They are the 2006 Grey Cup Champions!
Favorite NFL team are the Chicago Bears.
Favorite soccer team is the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Yeah but at least NFL players can score with their feet. Many field goals are kicked in an NFL game. Not like the typical 1-0 score in a Soccer game smiling smiley.

I never understand why Americans call their version of Rugby, football, neither game use the FOOT very much .
I digress my team is Manchester United the newly crowned Premiership Champions.
Shame about the cup yesterday but at least it didn't go to penalties which we would have missed anyway.
And in case you wondered I do live in Manchester

yeah...but my point was that only two players in the squad kick the ball. Hence the irony in calling it "football". Geddit?

Its not "typical". The fact that it doesnt end up 10-9 only seems to bother Americans and/or people with a short attention span, to be honest -but thanks for pointing that out

Mine is Olympiacos Piraeus. Champions again, in Greece.

PS I have some favourite teams from other countries. Barcelona (Spain), Arsenal (England), Boca Juniors (Argentina) and Naples (Italy), because of Maradona, of course...
