The Keno site lists Mick, Keith, Brian, & Bill as providing backup vocals.

Keith sings a bit higher up on the scale (at least he used to).

Probably just the band with the use of tape speed to help them.

I think we shouldn't credit Brian too much, as there are doubts he ever played in the Stones. (Dwinking smiley

Brian had a darker voice. Listen to Walkin' The Dog.

Who played what ? (John Moores)

SHE'S A RAINBOW (Jagger, Richard)*
Rec: May 18, June 12 - 13, 1967.
M. Jagger: Lead, Harmony and Backing Vocals**, Tambourine (?), Congas
(?).
K. Richard: 12 string Acoustic Guitar, Backing and Harmony Vocals,
Guitar.
B. Jones: Mellotron***, Violin (?), Viola (?), Cello (?).****
B. Wyman: Bass.
C. Watts: Drums, Congas (?), Tambourine (?).
Nicky Hopkins: Piano.
John Paul Jones: String Arrangement.
Eddie Kramer: Congas or Tambourine.(?)*****

*The working title was 'Lady Fair'. Then it became 'Flowers in Her /
Your Hair".
**One set of Backing Vocals was electronically sped up.
***On a brass setting.
****Photos and Keith's remembrences (admittedly shaky) say that Brian
was possibly an entire overdubbed string quartet. Go figure! While
this may or may not be true, it was worth a mention.
*****Two sets of percussion plus drums are heard simultaneously on the
live rhythm track. As engineer Kramer played percussion elsewhere on
the album, I've named him as a likely candidate for either the congas
or tambourine, though Mick is most likely the tambourine.

What photos show Brian playing all the intsruments of a string quartet? There's a few of him trying out a cello circa late 66. And, where has Keith mentioned that Brian played them all on that track?

Brian plays a lot on Satanic, something on nearly every song. Doubt the strings, tho. (remember 'strings arranged by J.P. Jones' or whatever it says on the back?) Brian does play lots of mellotron, but for an eery dislocated ambience, not to replace strings... I agree, the voices are clearly treated or sped up.
