this album is a killer, 3 stones classics - the last time, satisfaction and play with fire. The covers better the originals, mercy and thats strong, and good times. the first of the big six.

This album is not only a killer, I would rate is one of the Stones albums that consitutes absolutely ESSENTIAL listening !!

It's almost a shame that everything developed so quickly in the mid-sixties - I'd have loved another album from the short-lived "soul" era.
And I'd KILL to hear this album in stereo - it was recorded at Chess and RCA Hollywood, correct? I'm surprised no stereo mixes ever surfaced aside from the singles.

Loved their quick "soul" period. "Cry to me", "Pain in my Heart", TIOMS - all with the organ, young English Jagger testifying to the Lord.
