theres actually a 15 year period in between those two records and 3 albums (Human Touch and Lucky Town being the others)

And The Seeger Sessions wasnt the album that followed The Rising. 'Devils and Dust' was released in April 2005.

Live albums is a bit of a cheat, mate!

For me :

Dylan - bringing it all back home/Highway 61/Blonde on Blonde/ basement Tapes/john wesley harding

Beatles - Rubber Soul/Revolver/Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour (US only)/White Album/Abbey Road

Bruce - wild the innocent/born to run/darkness/The River/Nebraska

Bowie had an album out almost every year throughout the 70's and up to 1980, with only maybe one or two that were not great.

huh? The London Years is a compilation of 60's singles! whats new about that? LOL 'Steel wheels' was before Flashpoint. Bit of a stretch to include 2 live albums and a compilation as part of a classic quintet!

OMG Gaz! Totally forgot the incredibly forgettable Devils & Dust! I don't think I've listened to that since the day I bought. Sooooooooooo bad!!

Well Ya-Ya's is a great live album, which I hated for years, but really dig it these days.

The London Years did have some new mixes (Child of the Moon) and songs that were unavailable on CD up to that point...LOL

I looked this up because I knew someone would point it out! LOL London Years came out 14 days after Steel Wheels, so I'm safe to not count that one. LMAO

As for the live album inclusion, I didn't realize it was strictly studio releases. LOL In that case, I guess my personal Golden Age of when I came of age with the Boys is out sad smiley(

I forgot Al Green and Otis - for good reason, though: it's impossible to pick any 2 consecutive records for either of them. You can take any 2 of AG's first 5 or 6 albums and any 2 consecutive Otis albums (after the first one) and they'll stack up with any of the afore-mentioned duos.

Good choice. SIREN is fine but not in the same league as those 3 in my opinion.

Id have to say the Who and the Kinks in the same time period are just as good:

the Who-Who Sell Out-Tommy-Live at Leeds (if we're counting live albums)-Who's Next-Quadrophenia (67-73)

The Kinks-Somethin' Else-VILLAGE GREEN-Arthur-Lola Vs. The Powerman-Muswell Hillbillies (67-71).
