it sounds like most people here are expecting the "six other songs that have never been released in any format" to be live tracks. anyone think these might be new studio tracks instead?

>Not that it matters much but the tunes I mentioned were in reference to the statement " six songs released for the first time on DVD "

Ah, gotcha. I hope you're right about "Con Le Mie Lacrime". I'm betting on "Sway" and hoping for "She Was Hot" as well. I'm sure we can count on "Infamy" and/or "This Place Is Empty". Gee, 6 tracks isn't a lot if you consider "Rough Justice" and ONNYA will also probably be on there. Doesn't bode well for older material.

I am so glad to have Dave Matthews bullshit music on a Stones DVD.
It's a dream come true.

Well if the sources for the shows (austin, rio, etc) then I imagine the six "never before on dvd" songs will look something like:

she's so cold, little t&a, ain't too proud to beg, sway, under my thumb

That's 5 anyway. Maybe the 6th will be a Bigger Bang song. I wish there would be more.

3 of those are in LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER.

Well true, but there's never been an official American (or British that I am aware of) release of this movie on dvd. In fact, has there ever been an official release of LSTNT on dvd at all? I know I have already owned 2 lousy brazilian-made bootlegs on dvd.

I also took the "6 songs never released in any format" to mean studio releases initially. That would, however, beg the question of why they wouldn't top that off with 3-4 more and make it a new album.

I think they meant "never released in any format" by the Rolling Stones.

Hurricane is supposed to be on it, right? so that would be one of the "six unreleased in DVD format"
weren't the performances of Wichita Lineman and Bob Willis Is Still the King just short fragments?
which doesn't mean they wouldn't include them, but while we're just speculating,
i'll keep hoping the six + six are whole numbers.

>> Wasn't [Champagne & Reefer] played only at the Beacon? <<

yep. but i am hopeful.

Six songs that have NEVER been released in ANY format... Literally, it says that they will also not be released by any other artist, otherwise they would have included BY THE ROLLING STONES.

So, I do read THE VAULT take 1. I mean, we're asking for THE VAULT for years and years here, so wouldn't it be a good choice to release six unknown outtakes/not released material?

Regular Stones-lovers, who go see a show every few years, all have bought 40 Licks/ 4 Flicks. So, as being regular lovers, they will most probably not buy another dvd in exactly the same format: documentary, some shows, some interviews. So in order to make sure it is interesting enough, it has to be different. Either to attract all fans who are NOT collectors of every single unique release, AND to appeal to a more massive public, by being different from 4 Flicks.

So, in my opinion, it is a great choice to exclude some songs from the shows and cut them to 90 minutes: it leaves you with the essence of the show, and distuinguishes the various types of setlists that have existed throughout the tour. (Don't be cynical now, you know it's true). For example: the As Tears Go By/She's So Cold/SWAY/Streets of Love/PIB-setlist with Keith on TPIE/SA or BTMMR, OR, the Let's spend the Night Together/She Was Hot/Connection/YGTS/GOOMC-setlist from the US, forgive me a mistake here and there.

And then again, maybe, a special release of 6 songs that have never been released in any format by any artist, the RS included, equally meaning: THE VAULT. I hope so.

smile: i admire your hopefulness immensely, Jelle!
i personally am not taking that little "news" item quite that literally, but ...
it's possible! and whatever it is: i'm ready.

I won't be getting this. Sounds boring. The interviews will be the usual bland logistical crap about fireworks, bridges and stages (Jagger), polite befuddelement (Charlie), moronic matiness (Wood) and crap about honouring the bluesman/old rock 'n' roller tradition (Richards). Zzzzzzzz. And the live stuff? Interchangeable.

Wow Nicolai... Reading this I'm almost Worried About You. Don't jump off that imaginary building now, hang on!

Jelle

PS I mean, being not interested is not the thing drawing my attention, I can perfectly understand this, 4 years after the release of the excellent 4 Flicks. But the rest of your post...

Agree with that Adrian-L, it's a bit lame.

I've always had Bang You Live or something like that in my mind, for a live-release. I think Flashpoint was a nice name, No Security too, Jump Back is rather lame, Big Hits - High Tides etc is a nice thing although I don't know what it means, but Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out is truely an inspiring name. Love You Live and Still Life (perhaps more meaning than I understand) are both a bit shallow too. So it seems that sometimes they try to find an original title, but sometimes they don't care at all...

I read somewhere that it will be included.
Along with other documentaries as well.

It will need to include as many documentaries/interviews and 'treats', as possible.
Concert footage of 'Brown Sugar' and 'start me up' etc,
are not going to be big selling points.

I don't think the 6 new songs are completely new studio material. Would be nice though. It's more likely The Night Time Is The Righ Time.
