Georgelicks,

As requested: Remember, Soundscan started in 1991 so the bulk of sales for albums like She's The Boss, Primitive Cool, and Talk Is Cheap happened before. So these sales will be catalog from 1991 to today.

Primitive Cool 8,649

Anything else you need, let me know.

PC sold more than 8,000 copies. This is why people can't rely on soundscan.

FrankM...

PRIMITIVE COOL did sell more than 8000 copies but it was released before 1991...it was released in 1987...so the bulk of all the sales happened before 1991.

However, it has only sold 8,000 copies since 1991. Soundscan is pretty much very accurate considering the disappearance of mom & pop record stores.

Primitive Cool sold about 200k in 1987, I guess it sold 250-300k in total.

Thanks a lot Pecman for the numbers!
Do you have Alfie's soundtrack and the Rock'n Roll Circus 96' CD sales?

Thanks a lot Pecman.
GITD's sales are respectable, the CD only got a minor hit (GGME) amd no tour at all. ABB with 70+ shows and 3 charting songs on Billboard's rock and dance charts only sold 200k more.

Keith's sales are strong, Main Offender peaked at #99 on Billboard and still sold well over 200k even the Palladium CD sold over 100k and didn't chart on the top 200.

Do you know the sales for Forty Licks and Jump Back?
Both albums should be close to 3 million and 1.2 million, respectively.

The Stones need airplay next time around to sell some cd's.

I'm interested to see how the new McCartney cd sells with Starbucks behind him. Starbucks promised Macca they could move copies of his new record.

If his cd sells it could be used as a model for the next Stones cd.

I don't see the Starbucks thing making a huge difference but time will tell. None of these older artists get significant airplay when it comes to their new stuff. When ABB first came out I heard RJ and ONNYA a few times on the radio but that's about it.

The ship has sailed as far as their new stuff getting any significant airplay. Always wondered what would happen if The Stones wrote twelve songs and gave them to Coldplay or Nickelback. People would be like man this f--king stuff is great.

In a way they are victims of their own success. They have been around so long and their old stuff has become so legendary that the new stuff isn't given a chance.

Geogelicks,

40 LICKS - the Virgin release (the 2002 release) has sold 2,483,072.
However, apparently ABKCO put it out in 2005 and has sold 265,580.

I don't know what the deal was...being the CD is half ABKCO masters and half masters owned by the Stones...maybe Virgin had the manufacturing right for the first three years and then ABKCO had the right to print it themselves...a bit confused about that.

Re: JUMP BACK...the CD was first an import in the States...different printings and then released domestically...there are 4 different versions of it in Soundscan with different release dates...all combined it is in the neighborhood of 260,000 units.

A bit strange, this is from Billboard's catalog chart in march:

133 ROLLING STONES BEST OF JUMP BACK 2057 -10% 2277 930,906}

The 2004 release has sold around 940,000 copies.

Yeah, that's more in line with it.

It is strange.
