you would think we would have dvd release date by now?

with the european dates fast approaching, you would think we would have a specific date for the dvd release by now. Anybody think it will be delayed until late July or even August.

I was wondering as well, but who knows if they will promote it?
Live Licks also appeared without months of advertising for it, or perhaps I just don't remember correctly. I'd love to have the set before the tour starts for me (July), but I agree - it's weird we don't hear anything about it.

I don't think it will be delayed, but if it is, it's probably because they want to film a European show.

Interesting that it alsp say "Tracks for The Black Eyed Peas, The Rolling Stones". Surely we can't new songs??? Or did he just mean the DVD overdubs?

It makes more sense to release the DVD by the end of the tour, or after the tour.

mick said at the press conference that the DVD would be out around May-June and that they wouldnt be filming any of the European shows.

Cant see why anyone would expect them to, considering the upcoming DVD will be a multi-disc release and the 'Shine a light' film will be out later in the year. It would be pretty pointless and complete overkill.

however if, as you say, they were to delay its release until later in the year it make more sense to do so to include a 2007 show on the release (presumably London)

Yes. BTW: Read my recent post in this thread. There's some DVD news there.

I don't think they'd risk that. It takes a long time to make overdubs/editing etc, and besides what if they didn't care for their London performance? I think they'll stick with what they got.
But...most of the DVD/VHS-releases or TV-broadcasts from tours, take place after the tour is over, or by the very end. Maybe they'll feel like they have to compeat with their performance in the footage if they release it before the tour...or in the start of the tour. Also, they might be afraid of selling less tickets. I think the DVD-release is supposed to be a souvenir of the tour people have just been witnessing....instead of a promise for what's-to-come.

Ok..well I made my post before I saw your edited one. That makes sense. And yeah, there would be some overdubbing involved

Regarding the time needed for overdubbing/editing - the Twickenham show on Four Flicks was only filmed about ten weeks before the DVD's release, and the Paris show was only taped a few weeks earlier than that (and that one needed more work), and they still managed to get it done even though the band were on tour until almost up to the release date. It is possible.

You're also right about them putting releases out after a tour ends for the most part (although I think the BTB was out before the end of the tour) - however on this occasion theres been a lot of time off and Mick did specifically say there would be a release around the time of the start of the tour.

I wouldnt think that any dissatisfaction with london would matter anyway. they have 3 nights to get it right instead of one, plus they can always recreate or rerecord some of it in a studio or in some other artifical environment. After all, they were going to do something similar with the Beacon shows.

If they delay this release to have London concerts in it, and the title being "The Biggest Bang", it really does smell a bit like the last time IMO. It could happen also. FF was released around August, September 2003. Same could go for this one maybe....?

Will it be complete concerts??? Or will it only be a couple of songs from each show?????

Look for a release time a month or so before Christmas/Boxing day. That makes sense, doesn't it?

What should they release a DVD after this tour? Except the two gigs at the Backon theatre the set list is basically the same since 1989?

Because there is much more to their show than the set list maybe?

Lets just hope it will not be another compilation of tired warhorses.

I don't think so. All the war horses have sounded the same since 89 except a disco version of Satisfaction that tour.
jagger running around in Rio or in Saitama is all the same for me. When releasing a new DVD I want to hear songs hardly played before.

Quote from the text : Just completed mixing CD's for Susan Tedeschi (nominated for Best Blues Album Grammy this year), Etta James, Jacob Dylan, tracks for The Black Eyed Peas, The Rolling Stones.

Does that implies a live cd, and or new studio tracks too?

As long as the tracks aren't 'butchered' as in Live Licks, it would be nice to hear some good old fashioned stereo mixes from the live tracks.

Mick said there wouldnt be a new live album.

I don't know who "we" is but believe me, there are plenty of Stones fans that do not own these shows on DVD and will be happy to have them (me for one).

thats fine but they are all easily available and i know about 90% of this board has them, but it should still be a great release with all the extras

i dont see the point why argentina should be on
cause it has the creepy rio stage and the show
is nearly completely the same like rio

we're not really a typical cross section of the public or even the Stones audience, however.
