Although it seems like a contradiction Aerosmith gives good Beatle.
Everythime I have heard them do a Beatles song they are good. And for some reason I can hear Tyler sounding convincing belting "All we are saaaa-yin.."
The Lips doing "Starting Over" LOl; that is so them.

Yeah, I loved Aerosmith's cover of 'I'm Down,' not to mention Come Together... Were there others?

And there is also this wonderful news

The surviving Beatles are to release a new single based on a recording by the late John Lennon.

Song ‘Now And Then’ has been reworked by Paul McCartney, who has added vocals, and drummer Ringo Starr, with archive guitar tracks from George Harrison added to a recording given to the band by Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono.

ELO’s Jeff Lynne, who produced the original track, tells The Express, “The song had a chorus but is almost totally lacking in verses. We did the backing track, a rough go that we really didn't finish.

"It was sort of a bluesy sort of ballad, I suppose, in A minor. It was a very sweet song; I liked it a lot, and I wish we could have finished it."

I think it's a disgrace that Green Day, truly an awful band, covered Working Class Hero, a song that goes against everything they represent. And they have the nerve to turn it into another pop-punk, soulless, made-for-MTV piece of crap, too.

I wonder why this seems to be limited to Mr Lennon's solo discography and still nobody made an un-obvious choice for their song.

Does anybody else buy these things for the versions by the artists you like, play them once or twice and then forget about them? I gave up on tribute albums for that very reason.

I do buy them for the artists I like and then typically ignore them, but I need to be a complete-ist and have all that my fave artists release - in this instance...REM

Please do not hve anyone butcher "Imagine". The other day on the NEWS!! they showed a guy from American Idol doing "Imagine". It was the most nauseating thing I'd seen. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written and everyone can sing it; belongs to us all. But this kid..it was just wrong.

why does bloody Jeff Lynne always have to meddle (and inevitably)
spoil these things?
jesus, he's like a disease.

That story bout a new single is fabricated. The interviews with Lynne & Macca are from 1995! The story appears every 3 months in tabloid newspapers and then disappear.

there's a track or two i'd like to hear that might be intersting interpretations of songs i love by bands i love...but for the very most part, sounds like a novelty record train-wreck imo.
