Hi JKF!
I'm not sure. It's supposed to be a Russian label, with
a hhtp:/cd-maximum.ru website listing on the back of the discs.
Good luck officially hunting them down, though they do seem to have
a legit new music division specializing in metal.
They released a Beatles and a Stones set. Most of the Beatle US and
specialty titles were bogus reconstructs using the existing EMI tracks.
But the artwork and bonus bootleg tracks were pretty good.
They've also done everything by the Stones up til about Exile, including
those Decca UK compilations I mentioned. The artwork again, is outstanding,
with reproductions of the original covers and labels from different countries,
both cd and vinyl and the like. The bonus tracks are pretty good copies
of the classic bootleg tracks. Though the bulk of pictures and boot tracks often enough don't match the actual disc you're buying!
The sound quality is usually pretty good but I'm not sure if they are doing
a reconfiguration again, like with the Beatles set. For example, I bought the
first UK Stones album, and it does have the correct long but abrupt end version of Tell me. On the otherhand the same US first Stones title has the long one with the fade, perhaps from the recent SACD remasters. Stone Age has the correct stereo Look What Yoy've Done, but the It's All Over Now and Satisfaction tracks on Rolled Gold sound pretty narrow, making me wonder if they are from them too.
No Stone Unturned seems to be all mono, Big Hits UK seems to have the correct
stereo/ Uk mixes.....it gets quite confusing and I don't know how far I want to get into collecting these, if a lot of them aren't from the authentic source.
So if anybody has any info on any particular titles, I'd much appreciate hearing about it! Like I said, Bootleg Zone does list them, with the correct bonus tracks, but is mum on the original sources.......
