Because he said so himself. That's not saying that he's neither bad nor that being a control freak is a definite no-no. I think that being a control freak is just his way of doing things.

But how does that effect his ability to 'rock'? I look at it more as a way to just put him down....

The rock fascination is something we could expect on a rock band site. Problem is that many people put Macca up against the standards of The Stones, which isn't exactly fair, because it's really apples and....... Well, bananas. smiling smiley

I consider them a rock n roll band, although labels are meaningless - but this 'rock' thing is held up as some kind of barometer of musical quality.

The original post referred to his apparent inability to be 'rock n roll', and now its progressed into just 'rock'.

personally, I dont care at all for the guy's latter day musical output but to say he cant 'rock n roll' is somewhat daft, considering he already had about 700 gigs under his belt in Liverpool and Hamburg around the time Mick and Keith were still arsing about in a living room in Dartford and telling anyone who listened that they were a blues band and not 'rock n roll'....

If you dont think Mccartney is rock & roll, you dont have ears, and you certainly dont know music---

LA FORUM has not to be in rock business to get laid but you know, they had some... in the 60s. And then their substitute mamas (Yoko and Linda) took over. And no more rollin. Well some (listen to Plastic ono band, the record).

Agree 100% although I, unlike you, like the guy's latter day stuff.

LA Forum, your full of contradictions!

'And then their substitute mamas (Yoko and Linda) took over. And no more rollin."

Iamgine album, Plastic Ono, Rock N Roll album, Double Fantasy, Ram, Macca 1, Chaos etc. etc......

Perhaps you don't know your music as stated or you can't decide which side of the argument your on?

Nah, yknow what I mean, the first Lennon solo album is rollin, yes, but the rest of them, no not really, not comapred to the heavy Lennon of the Beatles. Same with Paul, first album is heavy and maybe not rollin and there is a lack of direction, but still, even the slow songs. Maybe it has to do with production and not being able to grow into the 70s. Times changed.

Might I add that Flaming Pie is a real treat for the ears? Except for the two boring blues songs, there's only great songs on this. I encourage everyone to hearing it in it's entirety, in peace, with a cold beer on a day when the sun is shining. It's really a great experience.

Paul McCartney has done a lot of great things, no doubt....but that first clip there really suck. But so does some of the Stones work, or at least some of Jaggers solo recordings.

Wandering Spirit aside....I suppose you can say that a lot of it suck,
but there's still some allright songs on GITD and She's The Boss...maybe 3 songs on each of them. And his work with Red Devils in 1992 was very good....also great stuff when he is gueststarring with other artists. And "Blue"..."Old Habits Die Hard"

McCartney has done his share of falsetto vocals (not as effectively as MJ on ER imo). Have you never heard "Girlfriend"?

The last record I bought from him was "Band On The Run"

You can repeat yourself as much as you want, but you are wrong. Rocking? Well Soily (Wings Over America), Letting Go (same, and Venus and Mars) Rock Show (Venus and Mars) Juniors Farm (single) Girls School (B side Mull) Helen Wheels (Band on the Run) Monkberry Moon Delight (Ram) Too Many People (Ram), Oo You (McCartney), Jet (Band on The Run), Old Siam Sir (Back to the Egg), Getting Closer (Back to the Egg) I've Had Enough (London Town), ALL OF RUN DEVIL RUN, and loads more ....
Rocking, sure enough Paul has the rock n' roll fever to this day.
