TESLA has set a June 5 release date for its "covers" album, entitled "Real to Reel". The two-disc set will contain 25 tracks, and will only be available at the band's live shows. Songs that are expected to appear on the CD include:

AEROSMITH - Seasons Of Wither
ALICE COOPER - Is It My Body
BACHMANN TURNER OVERDRIVE - Not Fragile
BAD COMPANY - Shooting Star
BLACK SABBATH - War Pigs
ERIC CLAPTON/DEREK AND THE DOMINOES - Bell Bottom Blues
JAMES GANG - Walk Away
LED ZEPPELIN - Thank You
LYNYRD SKYNYRD - Saturday Night Special
MONTROSE - Make It Last
PETER FRAMPTON - Do You (Feel Like We Do)
ROBIN TROWER - Day Of The Eagle
SLY & THE FAMILY STONE - I Want To Take You Higher
TEMPTATIONS - Ball Of Confusion
THE BEATLES - I've Got A Feeling
THE ROLLING STONES - Honky Tonk Woman
THE ROLLING STONES - Street Fighting Man
THIN LIZZY - Bad Reputation
TRAFFIC - Dear Mr. Fantasy
UFO - Rock Bottom
URIAH HEEP - Stealin'
ZZ TOP - Beer Drinkers, Hell Raisers

In a January 2007 interview with ZRock, TESLA vocalist Jeff Keith stated about upcoming collection, "We're going to call it 'Real 2 Reel' because we did it on two-inch tape, which nobody hardly ever does anymore. We wanted that warmth of the two-inch tape. That way it's real. Because with ProTools, let's face it — you can make anybody sound like anything. When it comes to tape, you're recording whatever you're laying down, so you've go to feel it. We kept it real-like-live. We would do two or three takes and go in and pick the best take, maybe fix a little part here and there. Of course all my vocals were scratch — and then when I would go in to do the vocals, I would do the same thing. Sing through it like three takes and pick the best one."

A really great selection of bands and songs to cover. Gets my vote.

Nice 70's vibe. They did a good job of "Signs" by the 5 Man Electrical Band a few years back.

Trivia question: What was the other (semi) hit by T5MEB?

Answer to follow later.

"No Anchovies, Please"

You got me on that one Elmo. But I love that track listing on the new Tesla album. It's like a classic rock dream setlist.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

The answer is a song called "Absolutely Right".

Trivia part 2 - What was the other (semi) hit for the Looking Glass of "Brandy" fame?

"No Anchovies, Please"

Their 5 Man Acoustical Jam (I think that's the name) was the first "Unplugged" style album. Along with MLHelper and Signs, the album also has Grateful Dead's Truckin, Beatles We Can Work It Out and CCR Lodi. A really great album to get. I'm not that familiar with any of their other albums though.
I saw them in concert a couple times in the 80's although I can't remember exactly who they opened for. Perhaps Alice Cooper and Poison?

Man, do I hate "Metal Hairbands" when they take themselves seriously. When e.g they do a five guy acoustical jam. 4 people slamming, hitting those guitars just as hard as they can, thinking that they are playing "with soul". I saw some video just yesterday aftyer I saw this thread and brrr..

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

Looking Glass had another mild hit with "Jimmy Loves Mary Ann".
