Jon, thanks for that explanation on Basque. I speak 4 languages, and I bet many people on this board speak multi languages. I have found that most languages from the West Europe are not that hard. Only Basque seems completely it's own animal. One time I drove through San Sebastian and the Basuq country and it was so different to me.

Hey, Domingo, and Cat, I didn't know we have canarian members here! I've just come home from a 2 week (hiking) holiday on La Palma and I really really loved it! Very beautiful place to live, I think!
I'm studying Spanish at university, but I've just started. I was able to understand what you wrote, though because of my Latin and French skills ;-)

My native language is German by the way...
