I believe Brian played piano on that.

Seems likely that Keith does indeed play on the officially released take, but that Jack is also playing.

The way Keith loves music I bet he plays the piano well. I bet he can play old Hoagy Charmichael songs.

Wanton Witch of the Côte, jeezum -- I have never seen anything like this photo -- thank you for posting!

Is it a Tarle? I think I've only seen b/w photos of inside Nellicote. Seen the shots of Keith and Gram at the piano but not color, not this perspective.

actually the one the Wanton Witch posted looks like the May 1972 Montreux rehearsals rather than France.

here's one of Tarle's from Nellcote 71:

That's a beautiful picture, with sssoul - haven't seen that before.

I've often wondered when Keith started playing the piano: we hear so much about how his grandfather first turned him on to the guitar, but if you read the accounts you hear that he used to get out the guitar when Keith was coming visiting and put it on top of the piano where Keith wasn't allowed to touch it until Grandad thought he was ready... But I wonder if he was allowed to mess about on that piano? I've never ever heard of him having any kind of lessons, and his style sounds very much as if he is one of those fortunate people who don't need 'em - he can just sit down and play by ear.

Here he is playing and singing at Longview Farm: neither the piano nor the voice would pass any tests of perfection, but together they send shivers down the spine (well mine, anyway):

keith plays only piano on 'Indian Girl' and does not play at all on 'Emotional Rescue'.

He supposedly played organ on She Smiled Sweetly, not piano.

The above pic I posted is from Wyman's book "Rolling with the Stones". I haven't looked at it in depth yet, but perhaps he erred and it's Switz not France. confused smiley

you can see the same chairs and the same white jacket wandering around in the background
in this clip from Montreux ... and Stu taking photos from his perch at the piano.
maybe he took that one of Keith & Marlon too

Wow, I took a double, then triple take of that photo of Keith with the sculls. The photo is taken at Warhol's factory. My friend and bandmate, Walter Steding, who was Warhol's painting assistant jammed with Keith that same day. We only have one photo from that day and he has never seen the one that was posted in this thread. I just spoke to Walter and the photographer was Chris Makos. Here's the photo of Keith Ronnie and Walter.

thank you kindly, Still a Fool! your photo's discussed a bit in this thread: [www.iorr.org]
but i didn't know the photographer's name. it must have been taken in or about september 1977,
but if Walter recalls any of the details of the occasion, it would be brilliant to hear them

At first he thought it was at the Love You Love photo sessions, but I told Walter when that came out which was right when he started working for Andy, and he thought this was a little later (he was at that photoshoot though). He did say that it was when Mick had already met Jerry Hall because Mick was in the other room arguing with the Bianca supporters. The photo was used on the back of one of Walter's records. On the same album there's a great photo of Andy holding his hands over his ears (actually Walter told him to pose like that but its very funny)

Yeah, he does a great version of Nearness of You, to be found on several bootlegs.

Did Keith and/or Mick Jagger use a Wurlitzer 200, a (Fender) Rhodes Mk I or II, or, on some of their 1980s recordings, the Yamaha DX7?
