Prett impressive how even at this late date the Stones prove me wrong again. SOL gets stronger. Jagger saw it all along. Charlie plays with authority.

Yeah, that looks like Austin to me. Interesting that these snippets are already available. Glimmer, thanks for making everyone aware of them.

I didn't think the crowd was terrible...of course, I haven't had the pleasure of attending a show anywhere other than the U.S.

Just out of curiosity, exactly what dance were we supposed to be doing during SOL?

Ugh, Keith looks and sounds awful. On the upside, that was the best Start Me Up I've ever heard Ronnie do. Good stuff.

the clips comes from the IOW so they must have allowed the managment of the festival to use them as promos

great band, lame audience

I asked the guy who uploaded it, here his answer:

Hi,

Nothing more from the Stones to upload though I'm afraid. These are just the videos being issued to the media for promotion of the European Leg of the Bigger Bang Tour!

Looking forward to seeing them!

oh i thought maybe they were also previews of what one of those 4 dvd things that mick was talking about at the tour announcement interview...i don't remember if austin was one of those shows...and i don't know what might have been 'cleaned up' etc...whatever, seemed pretty live sounded real good...thought those 3 clips were real powerfu...engaging i would have watched a whole show like that right then and there.

i am sure ronnie wood's solo on smu is overdubbed
he can not play a solo like that anymore

and texas fan it is not a question of dancing
it is again a coma alert audience
like on the flicks dvds (except paris)

have you seen the couple smiling at each other on sol???
lol
that is not rock n roll
that's a fukkin soap opera

and the crowd at the b stage is even worse
one guy holding his hands in the air
the rest is more concentrated on nachos again

I remember it being much different at the time.
SOL was kinda met with a collective, not this song, but they played it well and it was well received when it was finished. I hope they include Bob Wills and Learning the Game on the DVD.

BTW the crowd around the B-stage, and infact the whole festival was going crazy durring Get Off Of My Cloud.

Can't remember Ronnies solo on Start Me Up, but I do remember he tore up the YCAGWYW solo in Rio, so he can still rip a hot solo now and again.

the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler!

There is a certain elitism about Austin audiences. Austin is the self-proclaimed music capitol of the USA as far as the "critically acclaimed" stuff goes hence the audiences there can be a little snooty and stand-offish. Moreover the place the Stones played requires a bit of effort to reach and it WAS a Sunday so people there had their all-important education and government jobs on their minds no doubt.

The Stones coming to virtually anywhere is an event of epic proportions but in Austin I can imagine many folks going out of their way to sniff that it's no big deal.
