Yeah, I was just being stupid... like when I sing along to "Werewolves of London", my lyrics include "I'd like to meet Liz Taylor"

I like all three but would have to give the edge to IORR. Has a lot of underrated songs and some great ballads.

Goats Head is great, the fifth of the Big Five. Side 1 of IORR is also great, and B&B has 4 killer tracks.

Goats Head Soup,,, IORR last. To me IORR is one of their weaker albums from any period.

Yeah, but side one is pretty decent. 3 good rockers in a row, a nice ballad, than MT's fantastic swan song...

that made me think..the stones sure were not at their best in the middle seventies..i mean if you pick only the best songs from these three albums, you got one that's still inferior to Sticky Fingers, Let it Bleed or Exile..

You can take that comment a step further when comparing their last 5 releases to the rest of their career.

well i actually liked Abb a lot, more than Undercover, Emotional rescue, Steel Wheels or Dirty Work, so i wound'n say that, but yeah Exile or Sticky or Let It bleed can't be reached no more..

IORR and B&B are two absolutely fantastic releases, love every single note on them. Soup is also great, but the other two are way better.

Goats Head Soup is a great great original album. IMO, Taylor's work with Jagger (100 yrs ago, Winter and Hide your Love) is exceptional; a new dimension that extended both Jagger's vocals and the band's range.

There's always mention of GHS being more of a Jagger/Taylor album and that Richards is MIA. As far as I understand it, Angie is mostly a Richards composition and it is the most perfectly crafted pop balled the Stones have written and one of the highlights for me is Charlie's lovely drumming. I haven’t heard much melody (especially from Richards) since ..and yes.. a little bit of melody once in a while is a good thing.

Coming down again is again Richards sounding better than he ever has.. the song is at least as good as any Richards sung tune since and IMO, better than 80% of KR's songs since. Heartbreaker is not a typical Keith riff.. but a great song nevertheless - great lyrics and Taylor's lead solo is neither too long nor too short. Just beautifully perfect.

Dancing with Mr.D is a relatively lame opener.. but only by the high standards of the previous 4 albums and the same can be said of Silver Train. @#$%& is alright .. I guess. I'm not much into blatant Chuck Berry riffing and the lyrics to me sound like an inability to come up with something clever. "Can't you hear the Music" - Simply awful

So 6/10 great great tunes.. whats wrong with that?

B&B has 4 great tunes. The *sound* is terrific. But, Hot Stuff, Hey Negrita and Chery oh baby should have been left for practice sessions and not made the record. Melody sounds promising but has an unfinished feel to it.

IORR - the sound is muffled throughout the album. The title track is overrated and a straight rip off of Bang a Gong. Time Waits is Taylor's finest moment with the Stones - one of he great Stones songs and sadly his swan song. Fingerprint File is promising and could have been one of those legendary Stones songs with an amazing Keith riff BUT the final output on the record definitely needed more work. The other tunes are all ho-hum - "been there, done that" and done it much better before.

Overall, for originality and musicianship, GHS is much much better the IORR and Black & Blue.

Yes, ablett.
But as you see, it's not just a bare-bones-slagging.

I mean I'll admit, I'll buy anything they put out, and it'll get played in my living room, car, yard, etc.

You know why I get so pissed at the band? Because I believe that they CAN do better than they have been on stage AND in the studio. I WANT them to.
