Lots of concerts this summer, in France for ewample. Why did the Stones wait so long to confirm the concerts dates, don't really understand the strategy...
Paris was not sold out last year (about 62.000), will the band will succeed to full the Stade de France in less 3 month !!!
No, I don't understand the strategy...

I hope bv is right but I doubt. Think about last year. Munich was not sold out and you could get tickets for every concert you wanted on the spot either at a real price or even much less. I paid for FOS Munich for two tickets 60 Euros and was second row. If the Stones would like to sell out they should go for something different and that is arena type. Though I enjoyed the stadium shows in 06 I am fed up with it as saw in 05 how good the arena stage and the show was in the USD/CAD
well, because of the world cup--last year in germany--I only could see one stones-gig in Hannover. Great performance there---and S.O.L. live was just great.

That is my very opinion! Where are you from? Many of my thesises seem to come true one after the next (Lisbon, Rome, okay San Sebastian instead of Bordeaux etc.).
I think Dresden is already "ready" but there is no rumour because the local promotor does not want to risk to loose another show (like in 1995). I can't imagine a 30 concerts tour with no Dresden show (the 3rd - soon the 2nd - biggest town in East Germany, the 2nd biggest - Leipzig - is just 1.500 people bigger at the moment).
See you there!

Pascal : " audience of 62,000 " . I suppose you were not there. Figures went from 90,000 ( TVs ) to 70,000 ( Le Parisen daily paper ) . I suppose the truth in betwwen those 2 numbers. And as EriKjjc rightly points out it was something like a miracle due to all Parisians went on holidays hat day. It is like not allowing beers to be sold on Saint-Patrick's day.
Will the stadiums be sold out ? I have no doubt about that.
from my vantage point at stade de france last year-it was f'ing packed to the rafters. nice sunset glowing on the fans in the nosebleeds too. good crowd for a france show
I agree, stadium was packed, no empty spots. If the capacity is 90,000 there were at least 85,000 in the stadium. Probably the biggest crowd on the whole 2006 Euro tour - and the best of the 9 shows I saw last summer.
SDF 2006? Much more than 62000. Possibly not sold out, but I've seen the stadium fill up until there were no empty spaces anymore, just a few seats here and a few there.
I think they will sell out, at least 95%. In case some theatershows will be scheduled, it will draw so much attention that people will want to see them. Just to know what the fuzz is about... In that case the sales will be very fast.
Does it REALLY matter if any particular stadium isn't 100 percent sold out ? So what if it's say 85 or 90 percent sold out ? Will that ruin your day ? Will it mean the Rolling Stones are a complete failure ?
What is this obsession that some folk have about the necessity of this band to sell out evety single venue every single time ? I don't get it.

I don't get it either. The only show I saw last year that was 100% sold out was Bergen. Did that fact make Milan, Twickenham x2 or Glasgow lesser shows? Certainly not!
It's not a obsession, I wanted to say hope there will be a lot of people in Paris, because I think the delay is very short... 62.000 more and less was the sales confirmed by the promottor for 2006.
I've never understood this obsession with completely sold out shows. Surely the ideal scenario is that shows are all well attended but not completely sold out. That way everybody who wants to go gets a ticket !
i wish dodger stadium had been LESS full last november - maybe then it wouldn't have taken me two hours to get out of the parking lot after the show! (the taxis couldn't get up there)

Ever hear of safety regulations? Only a certain number of people is allowed to occupy a given space. They don't fill the fields at stadium shows anymore, even at sold out shows. It's not 81 anymore.
yes, so it appears that there were more people at the U2 show, which means . . . what exactly? that they're a better band? hmm . . . not sure what the point being made here is . . .
