The first 2 UK albums

Now that we haven't seen "The Rolling Stones" on cd since 1986 and "No. 2" only on cd in Japan in 1995, it's fair to ask if they have been deleted officially from their discography like "Rewind".
ABKCO dosn't seem to release them ever again. Can you erase history?

I just got The Rolling Stones on E-bay for $8.00. I just need No.2 to complete non-greatest hits cds. I never could understand why ABKCO never released No.2 with the remasters in 2002. They did the other UK/US releases. I could understand "Hitmakers" instead of the UK debut as only one of the songs is different, but why leave out No 2. I'm waiting for a good deal on E-bay.

The nearest to no 2 I have in my collection is the Russian release with a few bonus cuts and a pretty good inlay with lyrics and a small poster. It comes up on ebay quite often worth having I think

ABKCO is a US based company that do not give a **** about what was originally been issued in UK in the 60's. As per them, the official Rolling Stones catalogue of elpees do not have any issue by the name of No2.

This is very sad. No1 and No2 as issued in UK will never hit the market on SACD

The record companys got it backwards with the Beatles and the Stones. They should have released the U.S. Beatle L.P.s and the British Stones.

Actually, they should do like The Beatle and issu both versions! Great to have both the English and American versions and with the American you can have the mono and stereo mixes! And with several tracks there are clear differences. It would be great if they re-released all the original mono mixes.

Yes, but not all of us have the EP, and it would be very unnecessary to reissue it on CD.

The thing is, no matter what versions they went with, we would have all missed out on great tracks.

The Rolling Stones, No. 2 was how The Stones intended their second album to be, but if it wasn't for 12 X 5 and The Rolling Stones, Now!, we would have probably never seen the songs on 5 X 5, Congratulations, Grown Up Wrong, or Surprise, Surprise in the CD age. And we would have to pull out the Singles Collection to listen to It's All Over Now, Good Times, Bad Times, Little Red Rooster, and lots of other songs.

i would love it if they'd release a box set of just the EPs in SACD hybrid form.
and number 2 as well, of course.

Is it true that No.2 is how the Stones intended it to be? I have heard something else. Up to Aftermath, the Stones didn't give a f*** about how their albums were put together on either side of the atlantic, leaving it to Decca in the UK and London in the US. It was with Aftermath they made their first REAL ALBUM. Up to 1966 they focused on singles.
Besides that, all of the UK/US albums up till 1966, was recorded in 4-5 different studios, which made them patchwork-like anyway, with stereo and mono recordings blended together.
Albums like No.2 is more of a nostalgic issue for people who grew up with that exact tracklisting. Besides that: For the masses the first two albums dosn't excist and as we're getting older, albums like this will be erased out of the history as they are not avaliable on disc...
What do you think?

i have some doubts about the notion that the UK albums were *always* closer to what the Stones intended
than the US versions were - a bit different than your doubts, but still i'm glad i'm not the only one with some doubts.
Keith is, however, on record as saying of December's Children (at the time it came out)
that they "never could have gotten away with" a mishmash like that on the UK market.

I have some thoughts on this too, but my mind seems unable to convey what I want at this moment in time!
