Streets Of Love 2007 - the fate of Don't Stop?
Posted by: sluissie ()
Date: March 13, 2007 13:07

Don't Stop has been considered a great succes during the Licks Tour, it surprised many here that it didn't return on this tours setlist.

Streets Of Love was (in the ears of most, not all) a great succes in Europe, and I didn't hear many complaints either from the other side of the ocean. But will it return to Europe this summer? Or will it be dropped as quick as Don;t Stop did and will they use the opportunity to play a new/other tune? Of course, we don't know, but speculation is always nice.

Jelle

PS my wild guess is they drop it.

I think they'll drop it too and (unfortunately) focus on older stuff instead of promoting ABB. They may keep Rough Justice and do occasionally ONNYA or RFD. It would be nice if they try Let Me Down Slow or Biggest Mistake, but I doubt it.

i know most disagree here, but i never liked 'don't stop' much...
always felt it low second to third tier of their stuff...studio and live...
just my own feeling...so i never missed it and was glad to see it go, tho i do recall a recent thread here where many many fans really appreciated it and found it special to them...
i guess i consider sol to be solid '2nd tier at very best' kinda stuff too...but if given my druthers betwixt the two for some reason, i'd choose streets...but wouldn't be excited about either of the candidates in my own personal opinion...

just listened on youtube where a fan posted a sheffield '06 clip where they go from sol to 'miss you'
and i took a pee break...

Not only "Don't Stop" as succesful new stuff from the post 1989-era never found the way back to the setlists of new, following tours, or at least just a few times. Think about "Sad Sad Sad", "Mixed Emotions", "Love Is Strong", "I Go Wild", "Saint Of Me", "Out Of Control", or "Flip The Switch"...Maybe, and hopefully, "Streets Of Love" makes the same way like "Out Of Control", which was played at least at the directly following, or per definition even at the same tour ("No Security").

My hope is that they'll play much more stuff from the 90ies this year.

That's a list with some great songs. Love is Strong would be great, and I do hope I'll have the honour of Out Of Control some day.
I only know Sad Sad Sad live from Flashpoint, it is very powerful there. Mixed Emotions on flashpoint sounds like the've played it for decades.

So many great songs, only 20 slots to fill...

for me, i like mixed emotions...and 'i go wild' studio version, and to a lesser extent 'saint of me' studio version...
so personally i think they are right in dropping all of those from the set except maybe throwin' in mixed emotions now and again...
there is really nothing on that list half as good as all sold out or several others from beteen the buttons or aftermath or beggars or so many, many others...sad sad sad, flip the switch...paltry little wannabee stones numbers...
so much of their 90's stuff...starting SW in '89 actually...actually going back to dirty work...is sub standard...
a lot of really good stuff on voo doo lounge tho, i thought...
and good selections here and there from most releases, but i personally wouldn't pick, or ever miss, sad or flip or any of the others mentioned with the possible exception of 'mixed emotions'...
i know, my bag.

They ought to play some songs oftheir recent albums on the summer tour. These albums are simply too good to be totally ignored, Ooc, Saint of me and some abb songs worked really well live!

I'd neither miss SOF nor the during Licks totally overplayed boring don't stop.

There are enough songs left on ABB which wait to be played. And obsiously a lot other from their other records.

THey probably never do Don't Stop again, but I really liked it at Licks tour, very cool summer vibe to that one.
Streets Of Love...hope they drive it into the ditch, there's too many good songs in their catalogue to spend time on that one.

I'd be very surprised to hear anything more than 1-2 ABB songs per show this summer, and I would very much doubt that SOL will be included. Hopefully, any they do perform will consist of the as yet unplayed songs, although I suspect it could well be the Oh No Not Rough Justice Again hybrid again.

I hope they do ''To Much Blood''......ER...Let Me Go...Let It Loose...Turd on the run...Salt....Jigsaw...Out of Time...Tell Me...Gotta Get Away...She Was Hot..and ...Come On!!!!If you Really Want to...would be great to ''You Better move on""But the truth is people love SOL.

Chances for She Was Hot are still very good I think, if you look at a setlist from a random stadiumshow in the US last winter, it differs pretty much from what they did in Europe (of course excluding the warhorses) so I guess the format will look something like this:

Jumping Jack Flash
It's Only Rock'n Roll
Let's Spend The Night Together
She Was Hot
Far Away Eyes
Streets Of Love
All Down The Line
Midnight Rambler
Tumbling Dice
--- Introductions
You Got The Silver (Keith)
Connection (Keith)
Under My Thumb (to B-stage)
Oh No Not You Again
Start Me Up
Honky Tonk Women (to main stage)
Sympathy For The Devil
Paint It Black
Satisfaction
Brown Sugar (encore)

Add YCAGWYW, leave Far Away Eyes (I like it but somehow I think chances aren't high) add hopefully something like Laugh I Nearly Died in stead of SOL, and I think it is a basic structure for the coming tour. But what do I know?

doesn't look to bad, Let's just skip Tumbling Dice.

Liked them to see a 2007 version of we love you (if it's really the last tour) with footage of their audience during the last 45 years on the big screen.

Yeah maybe something instead of Oh No Not You Again? Personally, I can live without both RJ and Oh No, having seen them twice now. Under The Radar AND Laugh!!

That's a nice idea... I'd like a nasty and funny song on the B-stage, for example King Bee or Walking the Dog... THAT would be a riot, Mick prancing around showing how to 'walk the dog'.

I think''Let Me down Real Slow'' is the best...it could be done more hard rock..they can do with it what they want..it is just mutha-fuc-ing good...with a climax!...hope they do it!!

I dont think dont stop and SOL are the same situation because dont stop was dropped when it was a completly different tour, with a new alubm. This is just a contiunation of a tour with no new material.

they should open the show with that to show that they really liked to rhank their fans. Perhaps they could even take this as intro sequence.

This is off topic, but WHY does everyone put the (Keith) next to his songs?Does anyone here really not know that Keith sings Happy?Or Thru and Thru? Or You Got The Silver?

My post you quote was also not exactly on topic, so don't mind. This is, like probably most lists, copy-pasted from the review-pages, that's why.

Apparently I didn't shout loud enough.

in any event, i'd love to see a return of DS - love that damn tune!

SOL, on the other hand . . .what can be said about it that stonestod hasn't already?

imo, Don't Stop is very similar to SMU in the live arena....thus going with SOL from abb(which I loved on the UK tour) has a fresh feel. It really is quite good in person.

I would expect it to remain in the list from time to time. DS is a good song but
I don't look for it to appear as a live cut soon.
