Does anyone out there know if there is video/dvd in existence of this legendary event featuring Dylan , The Band , The Who and lots of other great acts ?
I have the dvd of the 1970 event which is excellent however yet to see or hear anything about the 1969 event.

Did The Who play there in '69? I know they played it in 1970

Theres nothing of Dylan's set in circulation other than a very brief news clip. Certainly, nothing official in video form - although 4 of the songs from his set were officially released on "Self Portrait" about 9 months later. Not exactly one of Bob & The Band's better performances.

The Who played late on the Saturday afternoon , Free had to cut short their set to allow The Who to go straight onstage from their helicopter which encircled the festival site before landing backstage.
Think they played most of Tommy and I remember Pete Townsend waxing lyrically about Joe Cocker who appeared later on same night. Magic times.

There is a dvd performance of the Who at the Isle of Wight in 1969. Its B&W, kind of fuzzy at times but pretty decent overall.

There is an audio of The Who's set (single CD).

Heaven And Hell / I Can't Explain / Fortune Teller / Young Man Blues / It's A Boy / 1921 / Amazing Journey / Sparks / The Hawker / Christmas / The Acid Queen / Pinball Wizard / Do You Think It's Alright? / Fiddle About / There's A Doctor / Go To The Mirror / Smash The Mirror / I'm Free / Tommy's Holiday Camp / We're Not Gonna Take It / Summertime Blues / My Generation / Naked Eye

Anyone interested if I post it on Hot Stuff?

Bob Dylan and The Band: 69-’70 NTSC Codefree DVD
[files.photojerk.com]
One of the most anticipated DVDs I have ever known, production of this title supposedly started three years but suffered all kinds of setbacks. Here at last then is the brand new DVD of Bob Dylan live at the Isle Of Wight in 1969. Remarkable footage, thought never to have existed, this DVD captures part of Dylan’s performance that day, as well as some other appearances that year beginning with Dylan’s spot on The Johnny Cash Show on May 1st, 1969, performing “I Threw It All Away”, “Living the Blues” and dueting with Cash on “Girl From the North Country”. Then comes the all-important Isle Of Wight footage. In 1969, the Isle of Wight pop festival was Bob Dylan’s festival. This amazing footage is all that we have of Dylan’s performance that day, and features the following tracks: The Weight (The Band), I Threw It All Away, Highway 61 Revisited, One Too Many Mornings, I Pity The Poor Immigrant, Minstrel Boy (cut). Rumour has it that this black and white footage was shot by a friend of John Lennon’s who sat between him and Yoko at the foot of the stage. Whether this is true or not, the picture and sound and remarkably good. The DVD continues with a handful of newsreels from the Isle Of Wight Festival, featuring still more footage of Dylan that day. The DVD rounds off with some footage of The Band live at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh in November 1970, shot in colour for Dutch television: Time To Kill, The Weight, This Wheel’s On Fire and Up On Cripple Creek. DVD comes in a tri-fold digipack case.
