The guy's allowed to take full credit for a song he brought to the table even if the credit always gives Ronnie PARTIAL credit.

Wasn't criticizing just telling you what was in the interview,buy the mag and read it yourself

Sigh.

Not really criticizing you...simply applauding Ronnie for taking the initiative of giving himself full credit for writing a Stones song when it's always been Jagger/Richards/Wood.

Sorry Justin I thought you were criticizing Ronnie,it's a good read though

i think Hey Negrita is credited as Jagger/Richards written song, with inspiration from Ronnie. At least to me, having inspired a song is still a lot different than writing it.
It reality, Wood probably did write it.

Ronnie talks about it in According to as well.

So it appears Ron, Mick Taylor and Brian Jones have not been given credit where credit was due for writing songs.

If there is a Mojo interview ... there will be tour pretty soon. Ain't it, bv!?

Ronnie is a self admitted terrible business man...he signed away the rights to the credit of Jagger/Richards...no need to worry...the $400 Stones ticket prices later in his career more than made up for his lost mechanical royalties.

Don't forget Ry Cooder and Gram Parsons while you're at it, Miss U.

Does anyone know the stories behind Black Limousine and Everythings Turning to Gold beeing the only RS songs in RW`s Anthology?

No Hey Negrita? Is it a matter of publication rights?

Have a look at the inner sleeve of Ronnie's Gimme Some Neck. It says: Fiji Jim One verse - Respectable participated in words - Do you think I really care sum (that's his spelling) words / sum mus - Everything is turning to gold music / chorus line sum words- Once you start music / Mick words - Munich Hilton Me + Keith / music - Infekshun music - some words (very interesting! Who worte the rest of the lyrics? Mick? Is it a Stones song?!) - Limousine and Los Trios Guitaros are further mentioned without comment on music or words.
Once you start? Did that get another title? The Paris tracks seemed to be complete?!
Hey Negrita got an inspiration by "credit" (as IORR! - have a look) - the same goes for Melody "by" Billy Preston. This sure made a difference to Mick and Keith handling that matter before - but I can't tell if this is moneywise relevant like a GEMA/ASCAP and so on composer's credit or not.

Thanks!

Don`t have Gimme Some Neck, yet. I started to study Ronnie`s solos with Essential Crossextion, which I listened to first time - yesterday!!

Whole new world to me, so I Got My Own Album to Do, Gimme Some Neck, 1234, they`ll wait for me at the local music store..

The reason Ronnie didn't get those credits is not primarily because he was or may have been a terrible businessman.

>> IORR! <<

the story on IORR has some variations, but basically: Ron & Mick wrote that
and I Can Feel the Fire together, and each of them "adopted" one of them.
since Mick was credited for IORR, Keith automatically was too
(same as Mick was automatically co-credited for Act Together and Sure the One You Need).

He admitted - in the interview - that he was basically terrified of kicking up a stink. Mick Taylor left because of that and Bill Wyman got bitter.

He had a fantastic quote in the same article when the writer said he supposed Keith was his soul brother, and Ronne said: "In this case, you mean arsehole brother."

I never understand why people don't get this very simple fact. The big deal is to be in the stones, not to have copyrights on a couple of songs.

>> The big deal is to be in the Stones <<

of course! but on the other hand:
the tour income is stunning now, but it wasn't always, and of course it was only coming in when there were tours.
i think they sometimes "evened things up" a little with their choices of b-sides and compilation inclusions.
since b-sides automatically earn the same royalties as the a-side hits, having a songwriting credit
on a well-placed b-side and/or good-selling compilation could make a pretty fair difference.

it's pretty cool the way Ronnie talks about this aspect of working with "these ... PEOPLE" -
his lifelong experience at being a youngest sibling seems to be standing him in good stead.

Yup. Ronnie is the only one who has been given cred. Keith likes him and needs him. That's why.

>> Ronnie is the only one who has been given cred. <<

Brian was the only Stone credited for the Rice Krispies jingle;
all the Mach I Stones shared in the Nanker Phelge credits;
Bill had his In Another Land credit; Mick T was co-credited on Ventilator Blues;
and then there are all the nonStones who have gotten songwriting credits.

(i realize that people are hypothesizing other works that were not credited,
but it's not accurate to say that only Ronnie has gotten credits.)

But he is the only Stones member who got credits.

... Mick T, Bill and Brian weren't members of the Stones?

(decided to check out this forum, and found out you guys are having wonderful discussions over here. So I thought I'd might as well add something).

Ronnie was credited for a number of Dirty Work songs (mainly because Mick was not around in the studio at the time).

One got to applaud Ronnie for not being sour like other co-writers were. Ronnie was always very loyal to the twins. Even to the point where they almost made a complete album without him (ABB ) and pushing him into the role of session musician. Even though I think that was a mistake (in the past the best albums were created with the entire band just jamming away), Ronnie never complained about it. He just gave the unevitable grin and played his great parts.
