Great song. Overlooked from Dirty Work, but maybe the best one from the album. IMO ceratinly the most "Stones-ish" one off that album. No Bass..Ron on Sax LOL

it gives me wiggles in my knees whenever the Glimmer Twins sing love songs to each other
and this is one of the best of them

I remember buying the Harlem Shuffle single...and flipping it over to hear that gem and thinking "now that's the Stones" as opposed to the A side.

kovach, I was going to write the EXACT same thing... I have the exact same recollection. And I remember thinking, "This is going to be a GREAT album!!..." and waiting AGES for the LP to be released (the HS single came out way earlier, to coincide with that lifetime acheivement Grammy, then the album came out a solid month later) and being so sorely disappointed in the DW album, save for a few tracks, HIWY included. Great groove, harmonica solo, gritty vocal.

shoulda done it at the club shows. do any studio out-takes/rehearsals of this exist? HAD IT WITH YOU sounds so raw & rough (almost adlibbed)that maybe they only spent a few takes on it.

There are three others?

One Hit & Dirty Work most would agree are very good songs.
Harlem Shuffle pretty cool too so that is at least 4.

Mick must've like WINNING UGLY enough to have the 12-inch versions produced.

I like Keith's 2 songs too.

I'm not a DW hater.

I was happy to have new material when things were looking bleak.

not exactly tough competition

but yeah, i like the song. it surely ranks up there with harlem shuffle as the only keeper on the turgid DW . . .

Dirty Work (the song) was proof enough for me they still got it. That time I was glad with any new song, and that song was and is a great rocker.
