Vote: Most irritating concert you're seen

When I was young and naive in the early 80's I went to see "The Cars". Concert was 1 h 20 mins. "playing" a song generally meant pushing a button on the synti to start a sequencing loop. Other votes.........

Blues Traveler opening for the Stones in Madison, Wisconsin, 1997. Cacaphony.

Glad to hear that, Voodoocat. I really wanted to see them on the Heartbeat City tour when I was twelve but couldn't go because I was... 12. It pissed me off for years until I found out that they did, in fact, suck live. Elliot Easton is a mofo, though - such a creative, underrated guitarist.

The worst show by a major artist I've ever seen was Bowie in '95, by far. It got off to a bang when he sang "Scary Monsters", "Hurt", and a few others with Nine Inch Nails (the opening act) and plummetted downhill after that. I literally fell asleep in my seat halfway through the show. It was the opening night of his first major post-Sound & Vision show and he was playing all new material (the album he was touring behind was Outside, which hadn't even been released yet). Knock warhorses all you want, but a few sprinkled in would have made all the difference in the world. Especially when you're debuting an unreleased, atmospheric concept album in a 20,000-capacity shed.

Without any doubt...Guns'n'Roses in Oslo 1993. Such a bad show, terrible performances.....Axl welcoming ev'ryone to Stockholm (which the had played the night before)....not much more than half full stadium, dull audience...bad bad bad

Neil Young in the early 00's. I've never seen him so i expected somw hits. instead I got a setlist of obscurity. I mean come on, no Cinnamon Girl, Heart of Gold, needle and the damage is done, Rockin' in the free World!

I saw Bowie years ago on his "retirement" tour. He later claimed that he was just "retiring" his greatest hits. Anyway, he sucked. He didnt want to be there (Ingleston - nr Edingurgh). He played some "re-imagined" version of Rebel Rebel which was cod funk. He took the bloody riff out the song!
Surprisingly, I saw Tin Machine around the same time and thought they were awesome - So maybe its just me.

Cher

Atmosphere ZERO.

It was like being in church.

She spent more time off stage getting changed and when she went everyone sat down to watch the acrobats - dancers or whatever they were.

She reappeared and all stand up.

I am also pretty sure she was miming ??.

Oh and the warm up was a seriously not funny comediane thank god we were late and missed most of the opening act.

What worries me is, as we left people all around us were saying how fantastic it was !!!.

Radiohead last summer; they actually played well, but it was lame and boring. Mark Knopfler is a comedian, if compared to Thom Yorke.

I think that was the tour where he was doing this concept album. I think it was called welcome to greendale. Or something like that. I went to that show as well. He billed it as Neil Young & Crazy Horse. So I was expecting him to play all of his good rocking material. Instead,it was actually like a play. He had actors on stage, different sets and the whole concept was this anti-corporate message and just this big smear campaign against Clear Channel. That's all well and good. But that's not what I paid $75 a ticket for. For the encore he finally did a couple of hits. But I remember walking out with my buddy and talking to other people and saying. Man,that sucked!

Believe it was in 1993 (my present hometown); Swedish group, world/folk music
genre, called Hedningarna. It stank severely... Hippy types all over, drinkin' tea and lookin'important...
The band played childishly with Sami prediction drums and jumped in silly ways
and performed crappy songs with disharmonic voices.
Me and my bro-in-law (who likes Clash & Mew Model Army) left after some
four-five songs, touchingly agreein'on "Never never never again". [www.dirtylinen.com] (pic of the band

this is easy...

in 2002 cat power (chan marshall) came to argentina... it was by far the worse and least professional show i've ever seen.. she had like 8 nervous breakdowns on stage...kept talking to herself in english and the crowd of course didn't know that much english and this made her very nervous or something

total freak...

Genesis w/Phil Collins - mid '80's.
Very irritating, I had a rash that lasted for weeks.

Bowie Glass Spider Tour Wembley 87. Rubbish songs and about 20 people on stage led by Toni Basil ! WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

Bon Jovi - all the shows my wife has dragged me to ! (refused since 2001).

i thought this was a pretty darn good show..very ballsy...

he was better the next year at a smaller place where he concentrated more on hits..but the outside tour was pretty good....i mean you can't knock his band...

but i can see what you're saying...

Agree with you, DC. Musically, it was very good. Reeves Gabrels was on guitar, and the bass player (black woman with a shaved head) was super as well. It was just the wrong venue for that kind of show and yeah - a VERY ballsy setlist, which totally flew over this casual Bowie fan's head.

At the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary, Manhattan Transfer played a 15 minute set that I'm still not completely over close to 20 years later. Perhaps they are a good group, I don't know, but whatever it is they wre playing was nauseating to me.

I also saw Steve Winwood back in '91. I've been in business meetings that less boring than that.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Another (thank ya Cindy) disastrous "musical" experience popped up;
another Swedish group, vocal, semi-barber shop trio called
Triple & Touch..[spinn.svt.se]
performed at a small but semi-glamoorous mall in Central Stockholm
I wanted to shoot ' em... This was back in 91-92... yik & double-yik!
...Not too far from Manh. Transfer

Anyone remember this fellow... ? winking smiley
His show at Roskilde 1982 was fine music-wise...
But very un-entertaining. Also worth mentioning in this thread.

They didn't have the tiger when I saw them. Maybe he should have eaten them! Nah, it would have left a bad taste in his mouth.

Sweden-type weather here today:

Another one that really bit the big one was Clapton in '90. Oh, his playing was great - when he wasn't giving half the solos to the other guitarist in the band (don't know his name, but it wasn't Knopfler). It was by far the most sterile show I've ever seen. He made "Miss You" to the b-stage seem like the Sex Pistols in 1976.

I love it when us Stones fans see other groups and dont hear the warhorses and only get the obscure stuff and hate it. Now you realize why the Stones play JJF, SAT, HTW, etc every show. Same would happen if the Stones played the rare stuff ONLY. Me and you would LOVE it but the Neil Young fans would complain about how aweful it was!!lol

Hey Juan - was this at Great Woods with Buckwheat Zydeco opening? Buckwheat was FANTASTIC! I can't remember for sure, but I think Eric came out and played with them when they play "Why does love got to be so sad".
