No. It wasnt a radio source. It was a personal e-mail.

The presale tickets are now sold-out. I exoect tomorrows allocation to go just as quick so expect the big announcement soon.

This is a bloody nightmare. It's only 35,000 tickets, not much when you look at the line-up and the potential for the stones. If they dont announce soon then we're not gonna get tickets... I can see it selling out fast even without the stones confirmation.

There are alot of very big / high profile UK acts playing, combine all there fans and its not difficult to shift the tickets.

It may be a good idea to buy a ticket tomorrow anyway. Like you said this will sell out with or without the Stones. I don't envisage selling the ticket will be that difficult should you decide not to go.

IOW is a great festival been there for the last 3 years, I am a big stones fan adn seen them quite a few times, If your are tempted by the possibility the Stones might play I suggest you get some tickets tomorrow and if they are not the Sunday headliners it's still going to be a fantastic weekend, remember festivals are not all about a single band and it's not as if you can just chance a ticket for Sunday as only weekend tickets are available.

Hoping it's the Stones but won't be gutted if it's not, but if it is hope to see lots of you there.

If it's any point of reference, they played 16 songs at "Sarstock" in 2003.

I've got my tickets now. If the stones don't play I'll be a bit disappointed but it still looks good. I really like Ash and haven't seen them for over 10 years and the other bands will be good too.

Headline acts usually get to play a full set, so I would expect a min of 2 Hours, probably 9pm to 11pm.

a Stones set at their own show hardy ever lasts 2 hours anymore so I doubt you'd get anything longer

Apparently The Sun (that most reliable of English newspapers) reports that The Stones have 'confirmed' to play IOW festival.....another rumour is that Prince is the headline act!?

At least one or maybe both rumours are wrong

The Sun might justifiably have a reputation for inventing stories and ploughing the depths of hell when it comes to recruiting reporters, but in fairness they - like many papers - do break their fair share of stories and have a decent track record of showbiz 'scoops' as well.

Of course, they could just be rehashing what we've already heard and which has been reported already on numerous sites already.

Prince as headliner doesnt tie in with the guy from Virgin radio who said it was "a huge act who have been around for over 40 years"

Apparently, I didn't hear this with my own ears as I am not on the IOW, but Isle of Wight radio has just stated that the Sunday headliners will not be announced until the end of March! Seems odd, maybe it gives them time to find another band if they are having problems with their 'first' choice......who knows?

Christ...if true, this fiasco of non-information goes from bad to worse.

Dont you think that in the midst of all these mailshots offering us anything from t-shirts to tongued-turds-on-a-stick that it wouldnt be TOO much to ask for rs.com - who apparently are the band's official site and have a facility for news and press releases - to actually have got around to stating at some point in the last 2-3 months that the band are actually intending to play live shows in 2007, even if its JUST that and not actual dates (which should have been announced a couple of months ago anyway - but thats another discussion).

I'm sure there are literally thousands of prospective ticket buyers who have already made plans for their summer holidays or blown their concert budgets on other acts who have by now managed to get their fingers out of their asses and announce shows, and who are quite possibly oblivious to any gossip regarding a tour by the band for whom theyve forked out $100 for this 'service'. Whats the betting that the next e-mail you get from rs.com wont be anything to do with a tour but will be some tacky faux-Oirish St Patricks Day t-shirt crap?

Yes. And I lost.

This is just insane. Get this bloody tour announced. There are so many shows i'm hearing about that i'd like to go to this summer, but financially speaking the stones are my priority and also I dont want to buy tix for other gigs and then find they clash with stones tour dates. So me and countless others end up missing out on shows that will sell out probably before the stones tour dates are even announced.

It's a really shitty way to do things, and very unfair on thousands of fans, but hey, we're used to it unfortunately...

Tell you what they could do as a gesture to fans if they do play the IOW festival. Film the show and make it available for broadcast on free mainstream TV channels shortly thereafter. A bit like the BBC radio broadcast of the Glasgow gig last summer.

I also agree, tour should have been announced before or just after Christmas, RS.com seem to be (unsurprisingly) more interested in telling us that this tshirt or that dvd or the other t shirts are available rather than doing what they should and tell us about future releases of cd/dvd and forthcoming tour date announcements, I mean if the tour is not going to happen then tell us for gods sake! We can all get on with other plans then.

What's the marketing idea behind it? They have been struggling selling tickets this tour and posponing sales won't help either. But I guess only us geeks are really waiting for them

It's just as well no tickets for Stones concerts are available, as I'd probably not have any money left for the rs.com store 'Easter collection', surely due any day now.
