Suppose there are a lot of people from Spain and LatinoAmericanos and all over the Globe, any artist or group you think is or are the best? incluiding song as well? Gracias desde Tenerife, best carnival in Europe!!! Carlos
I remember Mocedades with Eres Tu from 73 & ESC...
But that's hardly rock music... I remember a wonderful week back in 71 as a seven-year-old in Las Palmas... and lots of great memories from Canary Islands & Catalonia 1982, 1987, 1998, 2000 & 2002; some rock bands, locals, I have heard, but no names...
I don't know any rockers from Spain either. But as far as the Spanish language...there is plenty of good Rap on East Coast. I love the commercial Salsa rap by Night Owl out of San Diego. But as far as Rock goes - do any of the brothers from Spain know El Tri?
"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."
Allright Carlito. Yeah they are from Mexico. Cool that you know them. They rock hard. I have much of their stuff. I got to say: I love them (or him) more for what they stand for and for the attitude than for the actual music.
"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."
Selena was awesome... if she wasn't killed she'd rule the planet... just like Stevie Ray, Jimi, they killed such a talent...
Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine definitely "rock"... Carlos Santana is incredible... alot of "sh*t-kickin' rock" is mexican inspired, witness how popular Creedence is with Mexican fans.... the whole Texas Honky Tonk feel is about half mexican, IMO....
In 1990, after seeing Los Rodriguez, i told Julian Infante, "You have been better than the rolling Stones", and he said to me, yeah, but more apañaitos.
To those people think this in not related to Stones, bands we are talking about here most of them sounds like stones, what happen!! Los Rodriguez si!!, pero Selena? Por dios!!!
Keep on, Carlitos... Show the narrow-minded folks there are rock music outside UK & US. I will check on each & every single one of the posted clips, and I promise ya feedback!
Some great musicians from Spain and Latin America, IMO:
Joan Manuel Serrat Bebo y Cigala (Lagrimas negras is an incredible album) Astor Piazzola Ana Belen Los Planetas Mongo Santamaria Flaco Jimenez (played on Voodoo Lounge) Arturo Sandoval Paco de Lucia Amaral Julieta Venegas Joaquin Sabina Andres Segovia Oreja de Van Gogh Andres Calamaro Pablo Milanes (check out his cd "Cubanadas") Ojos de Brujo Celtas Cortos Duncan Dhu Carlos Gardel Mana Shakira Celia Cruz Tito Puente Buena Vista Social Club Los Motecas
I have seen some incredible shows in Spain (including a few Dylan shows, but haven't seen the Stones there yet). Formal concerts, bar bands and street musicians. It's a great place for music. And they have a great musical tradition with Latin America, North Africa, Europe, etc.
