My guess would be "yes"--it is a pretty long song.

Actually, this disclosure kinda takes dissolves whatever interest I had in watching them tonite.

I love the Police (except for Synchronicity--the first Sting solo record, if you think about it) and have some interest in what they do---their first records are, imo, masterpieces. Ghost, I enjoyed and think is very good, but it was the first step in the demise which became complete with the next record--which I think, in a word, sucks.

Well,Synchroncity is the only Police CD I own. But that's cool man. To each their own. I'm a casual fan. If they are gonna do a tour of stadiums, then their is little chance of me going. Even though they are one of the few groups I've never seen before.

They frigging nailed it!

Sweet--if you have not already checked out Regatta de Blanc, I highly recommend it--just a fabulous record.

Ok, I brokedown and watched it LOL--have to say though I am no fan of the song, they did a pretty cool version of it, short, it was only 3 minutes or so, but Andy Summers did some cool arpeggios in the middle and Stewart Copeland is as good drummer as there is. He is amazing.

All in all I must say, I was surprised--thought they looked and sounded really good--pretty tight for a band that has not played in 20+ yrs. Obviously they are working pretty hard in Vancouver.

Get the feeling they sold a lot of tickets tonite.....

They really did--just watched it again--man they sounded really good, really good.

Have a feeling this tour will be huge--the person that said Cohl will take a bath on this tour, might want to rethink that position........

Yeah that's the pisser of being on the west coast. Tape delayed. But I guess I will watch it now.

Kind of ironic since it is on the west coast.

Definitely check it out--very good performance.

Thanks Slide I will............yeah the irony is brutal. It's on the west coast but we get tape delayed. It gives me a chance to watch Stanford get beat. This day is going steadily downhill.

An abridged, but very cool version of Roxanne.

i missed it tonight - i haven't watched the grammys in years, i don't relate to much mainstream music these days. i'm glad that part of the world is no longer shunning the dixie chicks and instead are saying they were right.

i would like to have seen the police, though. saw 'em in '84 and they were a big part of high school.

don't forget about "ghost in the machine". i'll take them over most of the music from the 80s - any day.

with the grammys on the in background, the dead were just given some lifetime achievement recognition - no award. micky hart and billy kreutzmann stood up in the audience and they got less applause than i would have expected.

the police had to come to the grammys? i thought they were typically only called to the BET awards . . .

I saw that too. But, I was not surprised--the band was never very big on a commercial level and certainly not a "grammy crowd" and has been defunct for over 10 years.

Got to totally agree. Sting looked like he'd spent more time in the gym and hair saloon than the studio - we get it, he's in love with himself and he has this giant need to prove something with all that 6 hour tantric (sp?) sex bullsh*t and on and on - the guy is just not VITAL anymore. He's YESTERDAY'S NEWS but just can't disappear gracefully like many others (or get smart and go lower key like ROBERT PLANT, BOB DYLAN, and ERIC CLAPTON) ROXEANNE, it's right up there with LAYLA, FREEBIRD, STAIRWAY, HOTEL CALIFORNIA., and other classic rock songs that have been played a million times too often. How could they not have it down? they did it at almost every show of their life and then Sting kept doing it solo 0 I suspect rehearsals took about 45 minutes....

DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU ARE WATCHING WEST COAST FEED !!!!!

BRAVO to the Dixie Chicks for winning EVERYTHING !!! If those judgemental REDS won't take you DIXIE's, won't buy tickets to your shows, and ban your music on the radio us BLUES welcome you with OPEN ARMS !!! PAYBACK is SUCH A BITCH but it was so beautiful to watch the girls get called up over and over.

Other thing that's obvious is ROCK AND ROLL is almost dead. Red Hot Chili Peppers song was non eventful (as in BORING) and dropping a ton of confetti didn't help. The whole show was Hip Hop, MOR Soul, and Country - where was the ROCK AND ROLL !?!?!? GONE !!! It's almost over - Rock and Roll isn't dead but it is on life support.....

Helter--the ironic thing about your post is that you could subsitute Mick for Sting, Satisfaction for Roxanne and some might argue their really wouldn't be very much of a difference.

Just a thought.......

Rock N Roll needs "The Next Thing" to be meaningful like the Beatles or Stones or Elvis or Dylan and others were in their days...

Rock needs to be meaningful again.

Glass Slide, THAT did cross my mind for a second but even though I do believe Mick has some of those same attitudes or whatever going on he just doesn't seem as over the top about it as Sting. For Example, I don't read much about Sting but yet I know he has a GIANT country spread in England, same in Tuscany, apt. in NYC, Beach House in Malibu, and who knows where else....I think he 's pretty big in the bragging dept. and Mick keeps more of a zipped lip... I don't remember Mick ever bragging about his sex life for example.... I just think STING has to tell everyone everything (plus the Stones have a musical cat. to be damn proud of where the POLICE have 4 or 5 albums with alot of filler). Let them tour, I saw them once in '83 (yawn) , I ain't going again....

GOOD LUCK !!! You watch the very new bands on LETTERMAN and CONAN? The Video's on MTV2 and VH1? They've lost it - some sh*t 80's haircuts with Marilyn Manson Make-up and songs that just SUCK.... We've gotten too many generations away from the original core - the original stuff, They will never get it growing up on MTV butt jiggle video's - what training - ha !!!!
SAD, SAD, SAD !!!!

I, personally fail to see one iota of relevance between a person's real estate holdings and their music--why do you care? I suspect Mick's real estate portfolio is fairly substatial..so what, good for him---capitalism does not offend me, I mean who cares?

Are you really suggesting that Mick does not have a sizable ego? That would be funny--frankly, I think ego is part of what drives these performers.

The Police have a catalogue of music that I think most performers would love to have. As for "filler" that is a matter of opinion--I have friends who would tell you the last 4 or 5 Stones records are replete with filler......

I caught the end of Mary J. Blige doing the old Lorraine Ellison song "Stay With Me."

Was it a tribute, or is it her new record?

I believe it is Sting's wife of many years, Trudy, who does the bragging
about the tantric sex.
