Just curious - anyone seen that film? Just saw it on DVD and loved it. I go for that turn of the century stuff; and magicians too. Also Ed Norton.
there is supposed to be another one similar called "the Prestige" also coming out. Anyway - good flic. don't want to do a spoiler, but that was a funky little story too.

My wife and I saw it on a 5 hour flight home from Hawaii recently. From what I remember, it was beautiful. Unfortunately, I happened to snooze off after an hour on the flight and missed the ending. When I awoke the movie was over and my wife refused to reveal the outcome. I'll have to rent the dvd to find out the ending...

Bowie's in the Prestige, and I hear it is even better. THe Illusionist is a good movie.

Great film , very clever story , actually watched it yesterday and also The Prestige which is quite similar .Highy recommended. Do not under any circumstances miss the ending of both of these movies.

beautifully shot film....really has the feel of an older film...very cool fade out shots, and beautiful sets. And great acting...
Prestige is great too! And yes Bowie is in it and creepy...very cool. I think for me The Illusionist edges a bit over Prestige...

what kind of magic did edward norton pull on you? not a good movie.

the prestige, whilst slightly better, is no masterpiece either . . .

No, but I heard it's excellent. I thought about downloading it, but right now there is only the spanish original with english subs available.

Oh man Pan's Labyrinth is fantastic! An errie film that is part warped fairy tail and adult morality horror. The visuals are stunning and the acting is superb by an entirely Spanish cast, most I have never heard of! I highly recommend.

And to Forty Niks, bah humbug! I love film and thought The Illusionist was great!

I just went to The Last King of Scottland, another great film!

Lorenz thanks for the recommendation I will see Children of Men next.

What, seriously?
Can you give me the link, Erik?

Yes, I could, but you have to be logged in to see it, so unless you are a dime-member, it's not of any use.
He/she appears to be a Springsteen fan,
it would be funny if you were a member, and wrote "Hey you! What the hell are you doing with my guitar?!"

Here is my 2 cents (I saw all of the discussed films)

The Illusionist : Good film. Was dissapointed that the magic tricks employed were never explained. Thought the ending / twist was stolen from other movies I've seen in the past.

The Prestige : Excellent film. I liked this one more than The Illusionist. The magic tricks are pretty much all explained. Some great scenes.

Children of Men : OK. Over-hyped in my opinion. It's basically a mash-up of Blade Runner, V for Vendetta and a few other movies. Very derivative with a crappy ending.

Pans Labyrinth : Very Good. A little over-hyped. Basically Stanley Kubricks idea of a childrens movie.

THE GOOD NEWS : Check out The Fountain. Fantastic movie. I found it to be one of the best "science fiction" movies I've seen in years. Up there with 2001 a Space Oddessy.

BETTER NEWS : All of the above (except the Fountain) were downloaded for free as torrent files (DVD rips!) at www.TorrentSpy.com. Try it, you'll LOVE it! Just punch in the movie name i.e The Illussionist DVDrip and go to town! No registration or anything. Just mega free movie downloads.

I did like Children of Men a lot - only found it by chance, didn't hear anything about it before. Will check out The Fountain smiling smiley

I would recommend simply searching for "axxo" on torrentspy.
Best quality, fastest downloads - and you'll get all of the movies mentioned above.

V for Vendetta was fantastic, btw!

Hey Lorenz...If you run across a DVD rip of The Fountain let me know. Till now I've only been able to find "Cams". But it's been about 2 weeks since I,ve looked.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this: I just saw "The Departed" and again Scorses does his Stones inisde jokes. Towards the end when di Caprio sends this secret Cd to the girl he sends it inside the cover of Exile. Anyone catch that?
