Beach boys and the Stones

Mike Love has always had a problem with Mick, the guy is embarrasing, but what about Brian and Dennis? Or Carl? I know Brian loves Between the Buttons. Did ever Dennis hang up with the Stones?

Beach Boys and Stones - two different planets.
far as Mike Love goes: go hang out with George Dubya some more...

Didn't they meet in 66 in the studio?

They do share a tendency to pinch things from Chuck Berry.

Beach Boys may be very important to all the Hollies fans around the world...
I like their funny live-around-the fire-album with Barbara Ann on it...

Brian visited the studio around 65 or 66 while the guys were working. More details to come.

Brian was there with Phil Spector the night they recorded "Going Home".

Also there, Teri Garr and Toni Basil - these two reportedly spent the night toghther with Mr. Jagger. Rumor is that Toni's song "Mickey" is about him.

Yeah, remember that rant at the R'n'R Hall-of-Fame from Mike Love when he got inducted? What was that all about?

my freind whos really into brian wilson/beach boys says that Mick was a really big fan of "I get Around" when it came out and helped make the song popular in the UK.

the stones actually recorded that song too, I heard it.

I also heard a recording the beach boys doing Satisfaction. It just has acustic gituar, bongos, haromnica a tambourine and the vocals. theres a lot of goofing around on it.

Ryan R U sure? I really like to hear both of these.

Of course, "Surfin' USA" is Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen" with Brian's words.

Amazing isn't it? Mike Love being bitter.

He's made a blankety blank fortune off a very minor talent, and he has the humillity of a slug.

Without Brian Wilson, Mike Love would be singing other people's oldies in a bar in Hawthorne.

I am so buzzed right now that the mention of Toni Basil lead me to watch the video of Mickey on youtube, which lead me to a parody of that video, Ricky (as in Ricky Ricardo) by Weird Al Yankovic, which lead me to spend two hours reading about Lucille Ball on Wikipedia and the Internet Movie Database. I forgot I even had this window open. People on ludes (or the modern day equivalent) should not surf the internet!

On a brian wilson DVD I have, he says his favourite stones song is 'my obsession', and the guy interviewing him is like "Really?!"

Also, if you go to iTunes, they have the artists mix, whatever they call it, where famous people have their playlist, and on brians, is honky tonk women, and i think time is on my side.

One of the best quotes i ever heard about the beach boys is from al jardine or bruce johnston, who says "Brian Wilson IS the beach boys, we're just his messengers..."

Pretty true IMHO.

And, yes, Mike Love is a complete cock.

Seems miss Garr recently underwent brainsurgery. She also suffers from MS. I always thought she was the highlight in many of the films I´ve seen with her. Let´s keep our fingers crossed.

Stones never recorded I Get Around, it's an Andrew Oldham Orchestra track.

Brian and Spector were there for "Goin' Home"? Nice.

I also read that Brian was hanging around RCA-LA during the early Buttons sessions after the U.S. tour ended, but he was just kind of lurking off on the sidelines. That must've been around the peak of SMiLE, so who knows where his head was at.

Oh, and f*ck Mike Love. What a douchewhistle.

Even worse is that "Mike Love Not War" was the title of a Beach Boys live boot from '66.

Love put out a solo album in the late '70s called "Looking Back With Love".

It would almost be funny if the guy had any sense of irony whatsoever.

Lets give Mike, Carl, Al and Dennis some credit. Mike's a great entertainer and the harmonies of the group, are the best in rock history. Mike also cowrote thier biggest hits. They were on the TAMI Show with the Stones but the footage did'nt come out till "Sights and Sounds of Summer" two years ago. They rocked out on it, its great. In the 70's they would close the show with JJF and sound as good as the Stones, which is probably why they did it. Mike never got over the British Invasion overtaking their place as number one. IMO they are the two greatest rock bands, especially live, [with Carl]. The DVD "Good Timin',Live at Knebworth 1980" is the last time all six, [including Bruce], were together on stage. It is an excelent show.
