Brian Jones vs Mick Taylor/ Ronnie Wood as Multi-Instrumentalist

We get into strange territory, here, as argumentably, the most talented multi-instrumentalist the band ever had was Brian. This still isn't fully appreciated. This guy could play any instrument he got his hands on. That's a rare ability, indeed.

Mick Taylor plays guitar and bass.

Ronnie Wood can play guitar, steel guitar and bass.

Neither Ronnie nor MT have displayed any ability to play keyboard or woodwinds.

Ronnie plays(ed) saxophone.

But, getting music out of an instrument is very different to truly being able to play it if that makes sense!?

Ronnie played keyboards on several of his solo albums, and also on You Don't Have To Mean It in live versions since 97.
Ronnie played drums on some songs on Dirty Work, and also on some of his solo tracks.
Ronnie played sax with the New Barbarians.
Ronnie played harmonica on some of his solo albums, and during his solo shows (Am I Grooving You).

I have a doco where MT plays some classical piano and he's quite good actually. He also plays a tiny bit of piano in the Bluesbreakers reunion at the Capitol Theatre (1982) but that is pretty simplistic stuff.

I saw a movie many years ago and Ron Wood appears in it as a bass player auditioning for a gig in a band being formed to support a once famous singer making a comeback. Does anyone know the title of this movie? Wad it the Dylan movie "Hearts of Fire'.

Well, OK. This thread is a positive one, and that's become a rarity. Thanks, folks.

Mick J plays bass on a couple of the "Bigger Bang" tracks. Who'd ever believe that would happen?

I never knew that RayStones. Which tracks does he play drums on?

Though of the three he is my least favorite guitar player, as a multi-instrumentalist, I do not see how Brian Jones does not win this hands down.

It really is not even close.
