After you have watched the video on youtube (it has to have played all the way through) go to the "temporary internet files" folder on your computer and look for a file starting with get_video. Copy or drag it to whatever folder you want it in. Then rename it to whatever you want and add .flv to the end. You will need to convert it to another format such as .wmv or .mov or .mpg with a program. I got one from the internet called a Riva FLV encoder which works. I don't have the link anymore, so just google the title and it should show up.

your right cali stones fan.

you can open the files directly with VLC player [search google for it as it free]

B.t.w for those who can't find there "temporary internet files" you should make them visible in your settings 'view hidden files' in your 'folder options'

Cali stones fan, thanks for your help. I got to the "temporary internet files" after viewing the video on youtube, but there was no "get_video" to be found. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow, mttlacroix - what a great link! So easy and quick! Thanks for the heads up.

On another note, I tried to locate the "Waiting on a Friend" video, which I just watched yesterday, and today it has been yanked.

keithfan64 sometimes the get_video won't show up with some of the videos on youtube for me, so you might want to search for another version of the video that someone else uploaded, or another video. I don't know why some don't show up, maybe something with how they are uploaded or something. I also don't know if this process works on a mac, only have tried it on a pc.

mttlacroix - I'm an idiot when it comes to this kinda stuff so please forgive me. Are you saying that if I download the program you listed it will prompt me somehow to save the youtube.com file to my iTunes? There's a bunch of videos on there I would give my right arm to be able to transfer to my iPod! Thanks!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions - so far we haven't been successful, but we will try again today. It seems there are a lot of different ways to go about this, surely something will work for us!!

Save Videos from YouTube - Step by Step:

1.) Create a Folder on your Computer, where you want to save all your favorite videos

2.) Go to YouTube and search for the Video, which you want

3.) Download the video of your choice (Advice: click the PAUSE button [while you doing this])

4.) When your download is complete go to "Temporary Internet Files" on your own Computer

5.) Search for the file "get_video ....somethingelse"

6.) After you found that file, put it in the Folder, which you've choosen [for your favorite YouTube Videos]

7.) Rename this File exactly in name of your DOWNLOAD

8.) Search for a new Favorite for Yours

9.) got to point 3 follow point 3 till 7 (of my description)

10.) When you've all of your favorite videos go to:

and download "CinemaForge"

11.) Install CinemaForge on your Computer

12.) Convert the Files from CinemeForge into *.wma

13.) Enjoy your favorite Files

PS: It could be possible, that "Your Favorite Files" are not so great like you want to see them. But this has something to do with the orginal upload of your "Favorite Video".

note:
It seems like the author of iSquint has morphed his software into this "VisualHub". I assume visualhub is the same thing for mac.

I'm not mttlacroix (obviously!) but I used the link provided and have had great success (and I use a Mac)! No need to download a program! The link takes you to the page and you enter the url from the youtube video you wish to download. Then use the dropdown menu to select how you want it converted - MOV for Mac...or the iPod choice.

I've done it twice and they both came out great.

Thanks once again to all the great suggestions. We were at last able to download some videos by using the javimoya.com link. However, now we're kind of stuck again in converting them into something we can watch. When we tried to watch them on real player, it said we needed additional software. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I've been using these two for a year or so with no problems;-

This one will let you copy the Youtube video [javimoya.com]

This is the free FLV Player
[wcarchive.cdrom.com]

When you download the video it will default to a name like FD0014652, so change the filename to, for example, satisfaction.flv

That's it!

Rolling Stones Tribute

Play Rolling Stones

For downloading video from Youtube I put url link on keepvid.com and just download video on my PC. It's very easy and quickly. After I use program for converting flash to video because I don't like to watch video in flash format. It's all.
